Economy-wide rebound makes UK’s electric car subsidy fall short of expectations

TL;DR: In this article, a technology-rich model based on life cycle assessment and a behaviour-optimising model for the global economy based on computable general equilibrium modelling is proposed to quantify policy-induced economy-wide rebound effects for four relevant environmental impacts: climate change, acidification, photochemical ozone formation, and particulate matter.
Journal ArticleDOI

A typology for analysing mitigation and adaptation win-win strategies

TL;DR: In this article, the authors propose a typology of win-win strategies based on the concept of a value-consumption chain, which typically connects several producers with at least one consumer of a good or service.
Journal ArticleDOI

Big Data and Residential Energy Efficiency Evaluation

TL;DR: Researchers can utilize emerging large-scale building energy datasets combined with high-frequency energy demand data to develop innovative computational energy efficiency evaluation frameworks that incorporate knowledge and advances from various disciplines including machine learning, statistics, and econometrics.

Obstacles to lower energy consumption in the residential sector : an empirical analysis of the French case

TL;DR: In this article, the authors identify some of the barriers to the decrease of the French residential energy consumption with a focus on the role of individual determinants, such as individual preferences for comfort, other individual factors and energy performance of dwellings in explaining energy consumption.

Economics and consumer behavior

TL;DR: Deaton and Muellbauer as mentioned in this paper introduced generations of students to the economic theory of consumer behaviour and used it in applied econometrics, including consumer index numbers, household characteristics, demand, and household welfare comparisons.
Journal ArticleDOI

Technology, Prices, and the Derived Demand for Energy

TL;DR: In this article, an industrial demand for energy is essentially a derived demand: the firm's demand for the energy is an input, derived from demand for a firm's output, which is an output.
Journal ArticleDOI

Individual Discount Rates and the Purchase and Utilization of Energy-Using Durables

TL;DR: In this article, a model of individual behavior in the purchase and utilization of energy-using durables is presented, where the tradeoff between capital costs for more energy efficient appliances and operating costs for the appliances is emphasized.
Journal ArticleDOI

Economic Implications of Mandated Efficiency in Standards for Household Appliances

TL;DR: In this article, the authors argue that the indiscriminate use of mandated standards will backfire, but a mix of selective standards and reliance on prices as a restraint can be effective.

Qualitative Choice Analysis: Theory, Econometrics, and an Application to Automobile Demand

TL;DR: In this article, the authors present a detailed study of automobile demand and use, presenting forecasts based on the powerful new techniques of qualitative choice analysis and standard regression techniques, which are combined to analyze situations that neither alone can accurately forecast.
