TLDR
The IES–UPM observations on 200 affected photovoltaic modules are presented, as well as electroluminescence, peak power rating and operating voltage tests have been carried out, and hot-spots temperature gradients larger than 20 °C are proposed as rejecting conditions for routine inspections under contractual frameworks.

Degradation in Field-aged Crystalline Silicon Photovoltaic Modules and Diagnosis using Electroluminescence Imaging

Eleni Kaplani
TL;DR: In this article, mild to severe degradation effects observed in crystalline silicon PV modules operating outdoors for different periods of time were investigated through non-destructive testing techniques including I-V characterisation, UV fluorescence, IR thermography and Electroluminescence (EL) Imaging.

A directional-spectral approach to estimate temperature of outdoor PV panels

TL;DR: In this article, the authors proposed a post processing methodology for outdoor photovoltaics (PV) temperature measurement by using the full response of an IR camera, which is made considering that emissivity and transmissivity are equal to one, and consider the directional-spectral quantities to separate the target object signal from the other thermal radiation components.

Experimental study of mismatch and shading effects in the I-V characteristic of a photovoltaic module

TL;DR: In this article, a conventional photovoltaic module has been prepared with the purpose of accessing its cells either individually or associated, and measurements of every cell and of the whole module have been performed in direct and reverse bias, with the objective of documenting the scattering in cell parameters, working point of the cells and shading effects.
