Reliability based analysis of slope, foundation and retaining wall using finite element method

P Subramaniam
TL;DR: In this paper, reliability analysis has been made for slope stability, geogrid reinforced footing and the sheet pile wall using finite element method (FEM) using commercial software PLAXIS 9.0.
Journal ArticleDOI

Numerical investigation of the ultimate lateral resistance of piles in soft clay

TL;DR: In this paper, a beam-on-nonlinear-Winkler-foundation simulation of a free-head, reinforced concrete pile in soft clays is presented to evaluate the undrained lateral response of a single, freehead reinforced concrete stack.

The anchored pile wall optimization using NLP approach

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors presented the optimization process using the nonlinear programming (NLP) approach for the anchored pile wall, which gave an optimal solution to geometry, self-manufacturing costs, and other characteristics of the structure in a uniform optimization process.
Journal ArticleDOI

Limit analysis of the retaining wall with relief shelves under static surcharge loading using FEM

TL;DR: In this article, the authors examined the stability of retaining walls with relief shelves compared to the conventional cantilever wall using limit analysis integrating with the finite element method and found that the provision of an appropriate number of relief shelves and their suitable locations and widths to the wall can bring significant improvement in the stability compared to a wall without a relief shelf.
