TL;DR: In this article, analisa yang diusulkan didasarkan pada rumusan konvensional and prototipe pondasi ying diuji di laboratorium.
Abstract: Abstrak.

TL;DR: In this paper, a risk analysis has been performed to assess potential engineering problems at the envisaged construction site, largely based on a new, large-scale land-suitability map that was prepared in the GIS environment with much detail for this type of construction work.
Abstract: Participants of the 23rd University Olympic Games held in Izmir (Turkey) were hosted in a Universiade Olympic Village that had to be newly constructed. A risk analysis has been performed to assess potential engineering problems at the envisaged construction site. The risk analysis was largely based on a new, large-scale land-suitability map that was prepared in the GIS environment with much detail for this type of construction work. Information was collected from several maps, in combination with mapping in the field, drilling and seismic data. Geological, geotechnical, geophysical and morphological data were then superimposed on these analyses. This sequence of overlay analyses was performed with the help of GIS software (MapInfo Professional 7.5); this resulted in five hazard maps. Risk points (1–11) were then attributed to the different zones in the five digital hazard maps. A land-suitability map indicating the suitability for envisaged constructional activities was subsequently obtained in the form of an overlay of the five hazard maps, thus allowing to calculate a total risk for each zone on this map. The land-suitability map that was thus obtained, has been prepared for a 1:1,000 scale development plan; such a large scale is uncommon in this context.

TL;DR: In this paper, a three dimensional finite element analysis was carried out for 100 and 400m high R/C chimneys having piled annular raft and annular-branch foundations considering the flexibility of soil subjected to across-wind load.
Abstract: Three dimensional Finite Element (FE) analysis was carried out for 100 and 400 m high R/C chimneys having piled annular raft and annular raft foundations considering the flexibility of soil subjected to across-wind load. Stiffness of supporting soil and foundation were varied to evaluate the significance of Soil-Structure Interaction (SSI). The integrated chimney-foundation-soil system was analysed by finite element software ANSYS based on direct method of SSI assuming linear elastic material behaviour. FE analyses were carried out for two cases of SSI namely, (1) chimney with annular raft foundation and (2) chimney with piled annular raft foundation. The responses in raft such as bending moments and settlements were evaluated for both the cases and compared to those obtained from the conventional method of analysis of annular raft foundation. It is found that the responses in raft vary considerably depending on the stiffness of the underlying soil and the stiffness of foundation. Piled raft foundations are better suited for tall chimneys to be constructed in loose or medium sand.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors developed a statistical model to predict the building settlement and developed an interactive education tool based on the statistical model, which is much easier for CSM students to explore the relationship between building and soil characteristics and building final settlement.
Abstract: Texas is well known for its complex soil conditions and corresponding building settlement issues. As a result, it is important to introduce to the students of Construction Science and Management (CSM) program the basic building settlement concepts including causes, consequences and treatments. One important topic is how the design of a building (e.g., height, weight and foundation types) affect building settlement on various types of soil. This requires the ability to calculate building settlement. However, theoretical models that are used in the geotechnical engineering area are too complicated to non-engineering students. This paper develops a statistical model to predict the building settlement. An interactive education tool has also been developed based on the statistical model, which is much easier for CSM students to explore the relationship between building & soil characteristics and building final settlement. The model and the tool will be tailored into the Construction Materials and Methods course at the University of Texas at San Antonio as a part of the soil and foundation topic.

TL;DR: In this paper, a building addition that requires new columns near, or directly above, existing foundations is considered, and several design alternatives are usually considered to minimize the impact on the existing foundations.
Abstract: In many situations designers are faced with the problem of a building addition that requires new columns near, or directly above, existing foundations. Several design alternatives are usually considered, and frequently the desired objective is to minimize the impact on the existing foundations. The impact can be minimized by altering the substructure support system or by altering the design of the new building. Alternatives such as cantilevered grade beam systems supported by caissons, or the utilization of cantilevered beams in the superstructure, allow designers to setback the new column line from the existing foundations. The setback minimizes the effects on the existing foundations. The alternatives are usually explored fairly quickly and are precipitated by the desire to avoid a complicated and, perhaps, expensive analysis/design effort that may involve underpinning of the existing foundation. In some cases, alternatives are limited, and utilization of existing foundations, with appropriate modificat...
