A framework to predict the load-settlement behavior of shallow foundations in a range of soils from silty clays to sands using CPT records

TL;DR: In this paper, a general framework based on regression analyses was developed to model the load-settlement (q-s) behavior of shallow foundations resting on a variety of soils ranging from silty clays to sands, and a three-parameter hyperbolic function was employed to rigorously examine the obtained q-s curves and to determine the model parameters.
Journal ArticleDOI

Settlement of two oil tanks on Kaduna lateritic soils in Nigeria

TL;DR: In this paper, the concepts of elastic settlements using an ideal field situation of an unsaturated, relatively uniform and homogeneous soil loaded for a very short period were studied using water tests.
Book ChapterDOI

Numerical Evaluation of Bearing Capacity of Step-Tapered Piles Using P-Y Curves Analysis

TL;DR: In this paper, three series of step-tapered piles embedded in sand are examined numerically using the three-dimensional finite element method and the load-displacement diagram of each pile is obtained, and accordingly, the frictional and end bearing resistances are calculated using conventional methods.
Journal ArticleDOI

The response of piles under tension loads based on analytical method and finite element analysis

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated the influence zone of a single pile under uplift loads using a hybrid approach combining analytical theory and 2D Finite Element (FE) analysis.
