A fundação é a parte da estrutura de uma edificação responsável por transferir as cargas para o solo. Dentre os elementos de fundação, as sapatas consistem em um tipo de fundação superficial, construída em concreto armado e que podem ser produzidas para apoiar somente um pilar (sapatas isoladas) ou mais de um pilar simultaneamente (sapatas corridas ou combinadas). O dimensionamento de uma sapata deve ser realizado de modo que a armadura possa combater as tensões de tração as quais a sapata será submetida. Para tanto, diversos métodos de dimensionamento podem ser utilizados e que devem atender às recomendações das normas da Associação Brasileira de Normas Técnicas NBR 6118 e NBR 6122. Neste trabalho foi realizado o desenvolvimento de um software para pré-dimensionamento de sapatas isoladas empregando a linguagem de programação VBA. O software foi organizado em uma sequência de telas (janelas) que permitem ao usuário inserir informações necessárias para a realização dos cálculos, verificar o atendimento de critérios e obter os resultados do dimensionamento da sapata. No software foram implementados três métodos para a realização do dimensionamento de sapatas isoladas: método das bielas e tirantes e outros dois métodos baseados em critérios do CEB-70 e da ACI-318. Além disso, o software desenvolvido foi aplicado em um estudo de caso com o objetivo de evidenciar a aplicabilidade do programa e comparar os resultados entre os métodos de dimensionamento apresentados. O resultado do estudo de caso evidencia a aplicabilidade e eficiência do software empregando os três métodos. Ainda foi possível verificar que o método da ACI-318 resultou em uma menor quantidade de aço para o caso estudado, enquanto que o método da CEB-70 resultou em uma maior quantidade de aço.

Evaluation of induced lateral stresses from noise wall loading onto flexible retaining walls

To adequately address pile response under earthquake actions, or to analyze heavy vibratory machine foundations, it is often required to perform a dynamic analysis of the pile for transverse (lateral) vibrations. For a dynamic analysis it is critical to have an adequate representation of the system stiffness (force-deflection relationships), and adequate representation of the system mass involved in the vibration phenomena. The most widely used model to perform the analysis of piles under lateral loads consists in modeling the pile as a series of beam elements, and considering the pile-soil interaction by representing the soil as a group of unconnected, concentrated springs perpendicular to the pile (Discrete Winkler Model). The literature review shows that the soil around the pile deforms in pure shear and that soil deformations are negligible beyond a radial distance of 10times radius of the pile. The main objective of this investigation is to study the importance of the soil mass in the soil- pile system response and to study the soil contribution from zero to 3-times the pile radius to the inertial properties of a soil-pile system under dynamic lateral loads, through lumped masses with the discrete Winkler model and to evaluate the importance of such lumped mass in the system response. Pile foundations are generally used to support structures on soft soil with low bearing capacity. The pile foundations have to be designed to support lateral loads due to earthquakes, wind, and vehicle impact loads, among others. The most widely used model to perform the analysis of piles under lateral loads consists the pile as a series of beam elements, and considering the pile-soil interaction by representing the soil as a group of unconnected, concentrated springs perpendicular to the pile (Discrete Winkler Model). For a dynamic analysis it is critical to have an adequate representation of the system stiffness (force-deflection relationships), and adequate representation of the system mass involved in the vibration phenomena. The literature review shows that the soil deformations are negligible beyond a radial distance of 10times radius of the pile also recommend that for lateral analysis the added mass co-efficient (Cm) can be consider 3.0 times dia. of pile and for axial it is recommended 4.0 times the dia of the pile. Stiffness and damping properties are included in a dynamic analysis through lumped springs and dashpots. This investigation is to study the importance of the soil mass in the soil-pile system response and to study the effect of soil contribution in the inertial properties of a soil-pile system under dynamic lateral loads through lumped masses with the discrete Winkler mode.
