In this article, the authors discuss what kind of theories can describe the physics near the critical point by requiring the matching of topological field theories in the infrared, and propose a scenario where the $\ensuremath{\rho}$ and $ENSuremath{-}N} mesons form a $U({N}_{f})$ gauge theory near the point of symmetry restoration, where they become the dual gauge boson of the gluon in the phase where chiral symmetry is restored.Abstract:
When one spacetime dimension is compactified on ${S}^{1}$, QCD exhibits a chiral phase transition at some critical radius. When we further turn on a background $\ensuremath{\theta}$ term which depends on the ${S}^{1}$ compactified coordinate, a topological ordered phase appears at low energy via the winding of $\ensuremath{\theta}$. We discuss what kind of theories can describe the physics near the critical point by requiring the matching of topological field theories in the infrared. As one of the possibilities, we propose a scenario where the $\ensuremath{\rho}$ and $\ensuremath{\omega}$ mesons form a $U({N}_{f})$ gauge theory near the critical point. In the phase where chiral symmetry is restored, they become the dual gauge boson of the gluon related by the level-rank duality between the three-dimensional gauge theories $SU(N{)}_{{N}_{f}}$ and $U({N}_{f}{)}_{\ensuremath{-}N}$.read more

Towards the hadron–quark continuity via a topology change in compact stars
Yong-Liang Ma,Mannque Rho +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a generalized effective field theory approach to dense compact-star matter is presented, which exploits the Cheshire Cat Principle for hadron-quark continuity at high density, adhering only to hadronic degrees of freedom, hidden topology and hidden symmetries of QCD.

Skyrmions, Quantum Hall Droplets, and one current to rule them all
TL;DR: In this article, a Skyrme-like conserved current was introduced for the effective theory of pions and vector mesons based on the idea of hidden local symmetry, and the associated charge is equivalent to the skyrmion charge for any smooth configuration.

Magnetic monopoles in unified gauge theories
TL;DR: In this article, it was shown that in all those gauge theories in which the electromagnetic group U(1) is taken to be a subgroup of a larger group with a compact covering group, like SU(2) or SU(3), genuine magnetic monopoles can be created as regular solutions of the field equations.

TL;DR: In this paper, the anomalous Ward identities are shown to satisfy consistency or integrability relations, which restrict their possible form, for the case of SU(3) × SU(1) and for SU(2) + SU (3) + 2.
