TL;DR: Wire-cut EMD, being a highly complex process with non-linear behavior, is modeled by fuzzy logic approach in this paper .
Abstract: Intelligent control of any manufacturing process requires an appropriate modeling of the process. Wire-cut EMD, being a highly complex process with non-linear behavior, is modeled by fuzzy logic approach in this paper . The knowledge base for the fuzzy model has been developed using the experimental results. Membership functions are defined for each parameter and a total of 10 input and 2 output parameters are considered to build the model. The results of the fuzzy model are compared with experimental values and a statistical analysis is presented.

Abstract: To satisfy the needs like Better finish, low tolerance, higher production rate, miniaturization, complex shapes and profiles a different class of modern machining techniques, unconventional in nature, like Wire Electrical discharge Machining (WEDM) emerged. Due to its’ unique machining capabilities WEDM is preferred in various manufacturing industries like Aerospace, nuclear, missile, turbine, automobile, tool and die making. There has been an ongoing research to understand the interaction mechanism between the input parameters Vs output measures like Cutting Speed, Surface Finish and to develop WEDM as a Automated Process System, to avoid as far as possible the operator intervention in machining. In this paper an attempt is made to apply Data mining technique to model the WEDM process and to make the WEDM as Automated Process Control System and Expert System. Using the Experimental data the models are built, trained, tested and validated. It is observed and reported here that desired accuracy is obtained with the built models.

TL;DR: Data mining technique applied to model the WEDM process, to select the input parameters for the desired output measures and it is observed that the model built using data mining approach results-in with desired accuracy.
Abstract: Wire-EDM is a highly complex process, which is characterized by non-linear behavior. Owing to unique capabilities of machining complex shapes and hard materials with high accuracy and fine surface finish, WEDM is used in various manufacturing industries. There has been on-going research to develop automated capabilities for WEDM by understanding the interaction mechanism of various input parameters to get the requisite output measures like MRR, Surface Finish etc. To get t he desired output measures, WEDM depends mainly on the operator's experience and trial and error methods. To overcome this, a standard method for predicting output measures based on the input parameters in WEDM is yet to be established, which is a key requirement for developing Automated Process Control System and Expert System for WEDM. As a part of research, data mining technique applied to model the WEDM process, to select the input parameters for the desired output measures. The model was built trained, tested and validated with the Experimental data and with additional data. It is observed that the model built using data mining approach results-in with desired accuracy.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors discuss the interrelationship between the various forms of the Planck radiation equation and emphasize that it is a differential equation which gives intensity or energy density of radiation per unit wavelength or per unit frequency -not intensity and energy density as a function of wavelength or frequency, as wrongly stated by some authors.
Abstract: This paper discusses the interrelationship between the various forms of the Planck radiation equation and emphasizes that it is a differential equation which gives intensity or energy density of radiation per unit wavelength or per unit frequency - not intensity or energy density as a function of wavelength or frequency, as wrongly stated by some authors. This understanding of the Planck radiation equation relates to the relationship between the maxima of the Planck equation in the wavelength and frequency domains, which cannot otherwise be explained. The Stefan - Boltzmann Law and the change in the glow of a hot body with temperature are also discussed.
