Status of vaccine research and development of vaccines for Chagas disease.

TL;DR: This poster presents a probabilistic procedure called a “shots fired” procedure called “spiking the motility of the immune cells” to induce an immune response to vaccine-preventable diseases.

Bone Marrow Mesenchymal Stem Cells' Secretome Exerts Neuroprotective Effects in a Parkinson's Disease Rat Model.

TL;DR: This work demonstrates that the injection of hBMSCs secretome led to the rescue of DA neurons, when compared to transplantation of h BMSCs themselves, which can explain the recovery of secretome-injected animals' behavioral performance in the staircase test, and confirms the importance of the secreted molecules rather than the transplantations for the observed positive effects.

The rising worldwide impact of benign prostatic hyperplasia

TL;DR: The trend in the impact of lower urinary tract symptoms attributed to benign prostatic hyperplasia (LUTS/BPH) on a global scale using the Global Burden of Disease (GBD) database is described.

Global Typhoid Fever Incidence: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis

TL;DR: Variation in the criteria for collecting a blood culture, and among multiplier studies the authors identified a lack of a standardization for the types of multipliers being used to estimate incidence, mean typhoid fever incidence remains high at many sites.

TL;DR: The Global Burden of Disease, Injuries, and Risk Factor study 2013 (GBD 2013) as discussed by the authors provides a timely opportunity to update the comparative risk assessment with new data for exposure, relative risks, and evidence on the appropriate counterfactual risk distribution.

TL;DR: Non-communicable diseases comprised the greatest fraction of deaths, contributing to 73·4% (95% uncertainty interval [UI] 72·5–74·1) of total deaths in 2017, while communicable, maternal, neonatal, and nutritional causes accounted for 18·6% (17·9–19·6), and injuries 8·0% (7·7–8·2).
