Biological activities of Withania somnifera

TL;DR: The article reviews the scope of studies published in favor of anticancer potential of withaferin-A and discusses group of biologically active constituents known as withanolides, which are of under research potential as far treatment of cancer is concerned.
Journal ArticleDOI

ROS scavenging capacity and neuroprotective effect of α-mangostin against 3-nitropropionic acid in cerebellar granule neurons

TL;DR: It is concluded that alpha-mangostin is able to scavenge directly several ROS and has a neuroprotective effect against 3-NP in primary cultures of CGNs, which is associated with its ability to ameliorate 3- NP-induced ROS production.
Journal ArticleDOI

Wound healing, anti-microbial and antioxidant potential of Dendrophthoe falcata (L.f) Ettingsh

TL;DR: The results showed that Dendrophthoe falcata extract has potent wound healing capacity as evident from the wound contraction and increased tensile strength, and indicated that DFEE possesses potent antioxidant activity by inhibiting lipid peroxidation, reduced glutathione, superoxide dismutase levels and increased the catalase activity.
