Aromaticity of Heterocycles

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors review various definitions of aromaticity in common use and to survey their applications in heterocyclic chemistry, concluding that the characteristics of an aromatic compound are easy to define from a qualitative viewpoint.
Journal ArticleDOI

A Convenient Synthesis of 2,5-Thienylene Oligomers; Some of Their Spectroscopic and Electrochemical Properties

TL;DR: In this paper, a convenient synthesis of a number of oligomeric thiophcnes and oligomerically methyl-, and ethyl-substituted thiophenes as building blocks for novel conducting polymers is reported.
Book ChapterDOI

Atropisomerism and Axial Chirality in Heteroaromatic Compounds

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors provide a summary of the present knowledge of axial chirality in heteroaromatic compounds and present methods used to study atropisomerism, from X-ray diffraction to theoretical calculations.
Journal ArticleDOI

Aromaticity as a Quantitative Concept. 4. Less familiar five‐ and six‐membered monocyclic heterocycles

TL;DR: In this paper, an additional set of 23 monoheterocycles was subjected to AM1 calculations, and the characteristics were determined, together with available experimental data, treated by PC analysis, which was concluded that pyridine-like nitrogen atoms have relatively little effect on clasical aromaticity.
