TL;DR: The Rorschach Inkblot Method has been criticised as an invalid and useless instrument for assessing personality functioning as discussed by the authors, which runs counter to abundant contemporary data demonstrating its psychometric soundness and practical utility.
Abstract: Current literature reflects a persistent inclination in some quarters to denigrate the Rorschach Inkblot Method as an invalid and useless instrument for assessing personality functioning. Although perhaps warranted to some extent in years past, such harsh criticism of the Rorschach runs counter to abundant contemporary data demonstrating its psychometric soundness and practical utility. This article offers some observations concerning the kinds of information that are necessary to validate assessment instruments and provides examples of lines of research that document Rorschach validity and utility for various purposes.

TL;DR: Results indicate that certain child, family, and therapist characteristics are associated with use of EBP strategies; however, much of the variability in practice was not explained by the variables examined.
Abstract: The purpose of this study was to gain an understanding of how therapists providing usual care (UC) psychotherapy are using elements of treatment common to evidence-based practices (EBPs) for children with disruptive behavior disorders (DBPs) and to identify client and therapist characteristics that may be associated with EBP strategies directed toward children and those directed to their caregivers. Results indicate that certain child, family, and therapist characteristics are associated with use of EBP strategies; however, much of the variability in practice was not explained by the variables examined. These findings highlight the complexity of UC psychotherapy and provide directions for future research on implementation of EBPs in UC.

TL;DR: Treatment adherence and differentiation in dynamic cognitive-behavioral therapy and multidimensional family therapy for adolescent substance abuse were evaluated with a treatment adherence process measure as discussed by the authors, and the results demonstrated sound interrater reliability and internal consistency.
Abstract: Treatment adherence and differentiation in dynamic cognitive-behavioral therapy and multidimensional family therapy for adolescent substance abuse were evaluated with a treatment adherence process measure Full-length videotapes of 90 treatment sessions (36 clients) were reviewed by nonparticipant raters Adherence scales for each treatment generated through factor analysis of observational ratings demonstrated sound interrater reliability and internal consistency Therapists in each condition used techniques unique to their own model and avoided those unique to the competing model Individual therapists emphasized behavioral and substance-use interventions, whereas family therapists focused on interactional and affective interventions Challenges in conducting adherence research that compares individual and family treatments are addressed as are implications of these results for advancing treatment development for adolescent drug users
