IEDs and communication network on-line monitoring and conditioning system for digital substation

Abstract: Aiming at real-time monitoring and state conditioning of intelligent electric devices( IEDs) and communication of digital substation,the fault sources and fault mechanisms were carefully studied,and the faults were classified into two categories as names of background faults and application faults,from which the contents of monitoring were clearly defined and two types of new IEDs were developed in names of on-line pre-caution terminals and subsystem devices As the new types of IEDs in digital substation,their information modeling and communication modeling were discussed in detailed way,in order to follow the IEC 61850 standard which is the fundamental requirement for all IEDs in digital substation The communications between on-line pre-caution terminal,subsystem and the master station in control center,as well as the function designs of master station,were also discussed The successful real operation indicates that such a system has features of rich functions,standardized information modeling and integration,which can meet the requirement of real-time monitoring and state conditioning of IEDs and communication of digital substation

Abstract: In this paper, a functional damage evaluation system is designed and implemented. The rules of functional damage evaluation for equipment in smart substation follow the human experience problem handling. The electric wiring diagram of primary system and topological graph of secondary equipment are automatically generated. The information collected in online monitoring system is used to discover anomalies and potential failures. The states of the devices (including associated devices) and fault location can be obtained automatically by the functional damage evaluation system. Then the corresponding fault handling measures are suggested. The software is developed, realizing literal and graphical display of the evaluation of the specific damage for smart substation. The graphical demonstration of complex relationship helps the maintenance crew intuitively understand the current states of devices and quickly determine the influence of local defects on associated devices, which greatly improves the efficiency of maintenance in smart substation.
