TL;DR: The conclusion of this research is that the development of MLearning with microservice technology will form a robust application that gives a positive impact on teaching and learning process at Manado State Vocational High School.
Abstract: Software development using microservice has many advantages over conventional technology. The short number of comprehension and applied examples of microservice technology have caused the software developed using this technology is confined. This research aims to apply microservice technology in the development of mobile learning (MLearning). Implementation of microservice will break the application into stand-alone entities and isolated with others. Thus failure in an entity will not effect the application as a whole system. This research using a mixture of quantitative and qualitative methods in collecting and analyzing data. The data obtained is modeled with an object-oriented approach by used Unified Modelling Language tool (UML). RUP method as one of software development method that gives focus to software architecture is used to develop the MLearning. By this research expected a MLearning is produced using microservice technology. It is expected this MLearning will improve the quality of education in Manado State Vocational High School. The conclusion of this research is that the development of MLearning with microservice technology will form a robust application that gives a positive impact on teaching and learning process at Manado State Vocational High

TL;DR: A cutting-edge mobile learning system that can deliver live broadcast of real-time classroom teaching to online students with mobile devices and allows students to customise means of content-reception, based on when and where the students are tuning in to the broadcast.
Abstract: Chinese classrooms, whether on school grounds or online, have long suffered from a lack of interactivity. Many online classes simply provide recorded lectures to which students listen after downloading. This format only reinforces the negative effects of passive non-participatory learning. At the e-Learning Lab of Shanghai Jiaotong University researchers and developers actively seek technologic interventions that can greatly increase interactivity in blended classes. They developed a cutting-edge mobile learning system that can deliver live broadcast of real-time classroom teaching to online students with mobile devices. Their system allows students to customise means of content-reception, based on when and where the students are tuning in to the broadcast. The system also supports short text messaging and instant polls. Through these venues, students can ask questions and make suggestions in real time, and the instructor can address them immediately. Here we describe this system in detail, and also report results from a test implementation of the system with a blended classroom of 1000 students (250 campus and 750 online). [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

TL;DR: Author Nicolás Serrano, Josune Hernantes, and Gorka Gallardo examine current development approaches that can enhance the decision-making process of mobile Web apps.
Abstract: With smartphones being the primary handheld device for more than a billion people, mobile Web apps are a necessity in both technical and commercial fields. There are several approaches to developing mobile Web apps, but given the fast speed of mobile software evolution, in which the leading companies become marginal in months and new gadgets continually appear, it's crucial to understand the basic technologies. Authors Nicolas Serrano, Josune Hernantes, and Gorka Gallardo examine current development approaches that can enhance the decision-making process.

TL;DR: Simulation results show the feasibility of multicast MANETs to support students' communication and collaboration during these three outdoor educational scenarios.
Abstract: Collaborative learning outside the classroom is vital for many educational disciplines. Three educational scenarios held outdoors are analysed. In the first scenario, students investigate the ancient architecture, archaeological artefacts and historical location at an archaeological site. In the second scenario, students investigate the environmental and natural resource management, endangered species and flora at a national forest. The third scenario describes collaborative game-based learning at outdoors. Multicast Mobile Ad Hoc Networks (MANETs) are employed to support students' communication and collaboration. Simulation results show the feasibility of multicast MANETs to support students' communication and collaboration during these three outdoor educational scenarios.

TL;DR: This paper presents an analysis of the functionality of LMS focused on student role users using different mobile devices and suggests a middleware-based architecture is an appropriate solution.
Abstract: Learning Management Systems (LMS) have acquired importance in schools and business training. The increase in the use of mobile devices has led to many users attempting to access LMS from devices for which these systems and their contents were not designed. Also, mobile devices contain various features in their interaction media and there are no standards for these. This variety of features changes from the type of display, keyboard and sensors, to operating systems. A natural task to mobile device users would be to access any LMS in a simple, effective and efficient way from any mobile device. Besides that developers won't have to write native applications for each mobile platform and each version. An appropriate solution to these problems is to apply a middleware-based architecture. This paper presents an analysis of the functionality of LMS focused on student role users using different mobile devices.
