Abstract: Established in 1947, the International Organization for Standardization is a non-governmental federation of national standards bodies from 157 countries worldwide, one from each country. ISO’s work results in international agreements which are published as International Standards. The first ISO standard was published in 1951 with the title ‘Standard reference temperature for industrial length measurement’.

STANDARDIZATION
(ISO)
Established
in
1947, the International Organization for Standardi zation is a non-
governmental federation
of
national standards bodies from some 140 countries
worldwide, one from each country. ISO's work results
in
international agreements
which are published
as
International Standards. The first ISO standard was
published
in
1951
with the title 'Standard reference temperature for industrial length
measurement' .
Some 13,000 ISO International Standards are available on subjects
in
such diverse
fields
as
information technology, textiles, packaging, distribution
of
goods, energy
production and utilization, building, banking and financial services. ISO
standardization activities include the widely recognized ISO 9000 family
of
quality
management system and standards and the ISO 14000 series
of
environmental
management system standards. Standardization programmes are now being
developed
in
completely new fields , such
as
advanced materials, life sciences,
urbanization and the service sector.
Mission. To promote the development
of
standardization and related activities
in
the
world with a view
to
facilitating the international exchange
of
goods and services,
and to developing co-operation
in
the spheres
of
intellectual, scientific,
technological and economic activity.

Organization. WWF is the world ' s largest and most experienced independent
conservation organization with over 4·7m. supporters and a global network
of
27
National Organizations, 5 Associates and 24 Programme Offices.
The National Organi zations carry out conservation activities
in

TL;DR: In this article, a contingency view of process management's influence on both technological innovation and organizational adaptation is developed, arguing that while process management activities are beneficial for organizations in stable contexts, they are fundamentally inconsistent with all but incremental innovation and change.
Abstract: We develop a contingency view of process management's influence on both technological innovation and organizational adaptation. We argue that while process management activities are beneficial for organizations in stable contexts, they are fundamentally inconsistent with all but incremental innovation and change. But dynamic capabilities are rooted in both exploitative and exploratory activities. We argue that process management activities must be buffered from exploratory activities and that ambidextrous organizational forms provide the complex contexts for these inconsistent activities to coexist.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors provided worldwide and Europe-wide estimates for the production and use of ten different engineered nanomaterials (TiO2, ZnO, FeO, AlO, AlOႷ ₷႔, AlÕ€ Á€ À Á À à ǫ, Alǫ Á à À , SiO2, CeO 2, Ag, QDs, CNT, and fullerenes.
Abstract: Not much is known so far about the amounts of engineered nanomaterials (ENM) that are produced but this information is crucial for environmental exposure assessment. This paper provides worldwide and Europe-wide estimates for the production and use of ten different ENM (TiO2, ZnO, FeO x , AlO x , SiO2, CeO2, Ag, quantum dots, CNT, and fullerenes) based on a survey sent to companies producing and using ENM. The companies were asked about their estimate of the worldwide or regional market and not about their company-specific production, information that they would be less likely to communicate. The study focused on the actual production quantities and not the production capacities. The survey also addressed information on distribution of the produced ENM to different product categories. The results reveal that some ENM are produced in Europe in small amounts (less than 10 t/year for Ag, QDs and fullerenes). The most produced ENM is TiO2 with up to 10,000 t of worldwide production. CeO2, FeO x , AlO x , ZnO, and CNT are produced between 100 and 1000 t/year. The data for SiO2 cover the whole range from less than 10 to more than 10,000 t/year, which is indicative of problems related to the definition of this material (is pyrogenic silica considered an ENM or not?). For seven ENM we have obtained the first estimates for their distribution to different product categories, information that also forms the base for life-cycle based exposure analysis.

TL;DR: The draft ISO definition on UX seems to be in line with the survey findings, although the issues of experiencing anticipated use and the object of UX will require further explication.
Abstract: Despite the growing interest in user experience (UX), it has been hard to gain a common agreement on the nature and scope of UX. In this paper, we report a survey that gathered the views on UX of 275 researchers and practitioners from academia and industry. Most respondents agree that UX is dynamic, context-dependent, and subjective. With respect to the more controversial issues, the authors propose to delineate UX as something individual (instead of social) that emerges from interacting with a product, system, service or an object. The draft ISO definition on UX seems to be in line with the survey findings, although the issues of experiencing anticipated use and the object of UX will require further explication. The outcome of this survey lays ground for understanding, scoping, and defining the concept of user experience.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present new analytical data of major and trace elements for the geological MPI-DING glasses KL2-G, ML3B-G and ATHO-G.
Abstract: We present new analytical data of major and trace elements for the geological MPI-DING glasses KL2-G, ML3B-G, StHs6/80-G, GOR128-G, GOR132-G, BM90/21-G, T1-G, and ATHO-G. Different analytical methods were used to obtain a large spectrum of major and trace element data, in particular, EPMA, SIMS, LA-ICPMS, and isotope dilution by TIMS and ICPMS. Altogether, more than 60 qualified geochemical laboratories worldwide contributed to the analyses, allowing us to present new reference and information values and their uncertainties (at 95% confidence level) for up to 74 elements. We complied with the recommendations for the certification of geological reference materials by the International Association of Geoanalysts (IAG). The reference values were derived from the results of 16 independent techniques, including definitive (isotope dilution) and comparative bulk (e.g., INAA, ICPMS, SSMS) and microanalytical (e.g., LA-ICPMS, SIMS, EPMA) methods. Agreement between two or more independent methods and the use of definitive methods provided traceability to the fullest extent possible. We also present new and recently published data for the isotopic compositions of H, B, Li, O, Ca, Sr, Nd, Hf, and Pb. The results were mainly obtained by high-precision bulk techniques, such as TIMS and MC-ICPMS. In addition, LA-ICPMS and SIMS isotope data of B, Li, and Pb are presented.
