It is probable, however, that the 2 tumors lying both intradurally and extradurally were associated with spina bifida, since Wolf,3in discussing what appears to be extra-medullary tumors, included 6 instances of lipoma.Abstract:
Masses of adipose tissue within the cranium and within the spinal canal not associated with bifid spines are rare. Intracranial lipoma, reported cases of which numbered 74 up to 1936 (Sperling and Alpers1), rarely produces clinical symptoms because of its small size, and no reported tumor of this sort had been attacked surgically. Intraspinal lipoma is even less common, but it frequently grows to enormous size, produces compression of the spinal cord and is surgically exposed. When it is encountered, its true nature is unsuspected until the yellow mass is visualized or, when the tumor is reddish or white, until histologic examination is made. Elsberg's2series of data on 267 cases of extra-medullary tumors, compiled in 1941, included 6 instances of lipoma. It is probable, however, that the 2 tumors lying both intradurally and extradurally were associated with spina bifida, since Wolf,3in discussing what appears toread more

TL;DR: All types of deficit could be improved by surgery, which was beneficial in all cases of lipoma of the filum and 50% of cases of lipstick of the conus, and in asymptomatic patients long-term surgical results depended on the anatomical type of the lipoma.

The status of naltrexone in the treatment of alcohol dependence: specific effects on heavy drinking.

TL;DR: The majority of double-blind clinical trials in the literature favored prescribing naltrexone for alcohol dependence to reduce heavy drinking, consistent with the understanding of nALTrexone's mechanism of action of decreasing excessive drinking by reducing the reward associated with drinking alcohol.

A new understanding of dorsal dysraphism with lipoma (lipomyeloschisis): radiologic evaluation and surgical correction
TL;DR: The spinal anomaly designated dorsal dysraphism with lipoma (lipomyeloschisis) as mentioned in this paper consists of skin-covered, focal spina bifida; focal partial clefting of the dorsal half of the spinal cord; continuity of a dorsal cleft with the central canal of the cord above (and occasionally below) the cleft; deficiency of the dura underlying the spina Bifida.

Spinal angiolipomas: Report of three cases
TL;DR: It is concluded that spinal angiolipomas predominantly affect women, involve the thoracic region, and produce symptoms and signs of spinal compression and, in some cases, bone erosion and pathological fractures.

TL;DR: The meninges engage a constantly increasing attention from those interested in the diseases of the nervous system and for the intelligent interpretation of their pathology it is necessary to have not only knowledge of the morphology of the meninges but also a clear understanding of their developmental background.
