Abstract
Investigations show that rich wild ginkgo germplasm resources still remain in Wuchuan County of Guizhou Province. The discovery of a typical wild ginkgo forest community in Zhangjia Mountain of Fengle Town,as a sample plot, reliablely verified the congcontroversial hypothesis that there are wild ginkgo in China. In Liaojia Village of Huangyang Ping,a relic community of wild ginkgo with primarily male trees shows for the first time the specialty of the sex ratio and horizontal distribution of ginkgo;the widespread existence wild Ginkgo biloba around the Wuchuan County, particularly in the site of Shierpan, demonstrates that this species thrived in this area.Currently these trees are in the course of typical regressive sucdession going from large habitat to small habitat and heading toward extinction as represented by the relic communities, groups, groves and solitary ginkgo trees in various stages if decline. The morphologic and evolutionary features of the extant gingko vommunities in the county,it is odvious that Wuchuan is the native place and present reservation of wild ginkgo in China. This discovery is important for ginkgo evolutionary and conservation research.

Phylogeography of a living fossil: pleistocene glaciations forced Ginkgo biloba L. (Ginkgoaceae) into two refuge areas in China with limited subsequent postglacial expansion.

TL;DR: For the first time, this study provides evidence of the existence of a refuge area in Eastern China on the West Tianmu Mountains and hypothesize that this evidence supports that as a long-lived dioecious plant, G. biloba displays high levels of intra-populational genetic diversity that have been maintained in most populations, regardless if they are native or reforested stands.

An overview of fossil Ginkgoales

TL;DR: Ginkgoales may have lived in various climates and diverse habitats, although most flourished in mesic and temperate climates, and the Late Cretaceous and Cenozoic ginkgos were largely confined to riparian environments.

The Phenology of Sexual Reproduction in Ginkgo biloba: Ecological and Evolutionary Implications

TL;DR: This study examines how the latitude of cultivation of Ginkgo biloba affects the timing of all phases of its sexual reproductive cycle, from pollination through germination, suggesting that animal dispersal plays an important role in promoting seedling establishment.

Out of China: Distribution history of Ginkgo biloba L.

TL;DR: Evidence is provided that Ginkgo biloba reached Japan via different routes from China during the last two millennia most likely by human-mediated dispersal, and multiple introduction into Korea and Japan in concert with an out-crossing mating system has maintained high levels of gene diversity.

The Middle Jurassic Palynology of the Daohugou Area, Inner Mongolia, China, and Its Implications for Palaeobiology and Palaeogeography

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors collected palynological samples from the same level as megafossil plants, and conducted a detailed taxonomic analysis of the pollen and spores in order to augment the megaflossil record, to extend documentation of the Middle Jurassic palynoflora, and to examine implications for palaeogeography, palaeecology and palaeoclimate in north China during the Jurassic.
