Virinder S. Parmar,Subhash C. Jain,Kirpal S. Bisht,Rajni Jain,Poonam Taneja,Amitabh Jha,O. D. Tyagi,Ashok K. Prasad,Jesper Wengel,Carl Erik Olsen,Per M. Boll,Per M. Boll +11 more
TL;DR: The secondary metabolites isolated from Piper species for the period 1907 to June 1996 have been reviewed in this paper, where nearly six hundred chemical constituents belonging to different classes of bioactive compounds are listed together with their source(s) and references.
Journal ArticleDOI
Alkaloids from Piper nigrum Exhibit Antiinflammatory Activity via Activating the Nrf2/HO-1 Pathway.
Quynh Mai Thi Ngo,Phuong Thao Tran,Manh Hung Tran,Jeong Ah Kim,Seong Soo Rho,Chi-Hwan Lim,Jin-Cheol Kim,Mi Hee Woo,Jae Sui Choi,Jeong-Hyung Lee,Byung Sun Min +10 more
TL;DR: Findings suggest that chabamide (1) from P. nigrum exert antiinflammatory effects via the activation of the Nrf2/heme‐oxygenase‐1 pathway; hence, it might be a promising candidate for the treatment of inflammatory diseases.
Journal ArticleDOI
Insecticidal amides from fruits of Piper nigrum Linn.
TL;DR: The petroleum ether and ethyl acetate fractions of dried ground seeds of Piper nigrum Linn afforded sixteen compounds including one new insecticidal amide, pipwaqarine and six constituents previously unreported from this plant, which led to the identification of three compounds using the NIST Mass spectral search program 1998 and Kovat's retention indices.
Journal ArticleDOI
Amides from Piper brachystachyum and Piper retrofractum.
TL;DR: Three unsaturated amides, designatedBrachystamides-C, D and E have been characterised from Piper brachystachyum Wall, which yielded retrofractamide-D, which has been fully characterised.

Natural abundance nitrogen-15 NMR by enhanced heteronuclear spectroscopy
Geoffrey Bodenhausen,D. J. Ruben +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, the detection of NMR spectra of less sensitive nuclei coupled to protons was improved by a 2-dimensional Fourier transform technique involving a double transfer of polarization.

Sensitivity-enhanced two-dimensional heteronuclear shift correlation NMR spectroscopy
Ad Bax,Sankaran Subramanian +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a simple method that alleviates the dynamic range problem and that facilitates the suppression of signals from protons that are not coupled to the lowy nucleus is described, where the low-y nucleus was assumed to be 13C.

A new straightforward and general approach to dienamide natural products
TL;DR: A new synthetic approach to various conjugated (E,E) dienamides has been developed, starting from an easily accessible bifunctional dienyl compound and based upon a double selective electrophilic substitution, followed by coupling reactions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Minor amides of Piper species
TL;DR: In this article, three new pyrrolidides, brachyamide A (brachyamide B) and brachystine, have been isolated from P. brachachystachyum.
Journal ArticleDOI
Two amides from Piper brachystachyum
Avijit Banerji,Chittaranjan Das +1 more
TL;DR: Two new unsaturated amides were isolated from the total above-ground parts of Piper brachystachyum and were shown to be N-isobutyl-15 (3′,4′-methylenedioxyphenyl) 2E,4E-pentadecadienamide from spectroscopic and chemical investigations.
