Study on exploration of mycorrhizal association of terrestrial orchid of Cycloops Nature Reserve, Jayapura was done. Theaims of this study were to collect terrestrial orchid and to isolate orchid mycorrhiza associated with it. Survey method was used in this study. Isolation of orchid mycorrhiza was based on modified methods of Masuhara and Katsuya (1989). The result showed that there were 10 species of terrestrial orchid in this area. Eleven orchid mycorrhizal fungi were isolated from five terrestrial orchids. Among them, 6 isolates were associated with Geodorum sp. From the seventeen mycorrhizal fungi, 3 isolates were identified, namely Rhizoctonia sp., Tulasnella sp., and Ceratorhiza sp, while the last fourteen isolates have not been identified yet. Mostly, each isolate has a specific orchid host, except species G (sp. G) which associated with Phaius sp. and Plocoglottis sp.Key words: terrestrial orchid, orchid mycorrhiza, Mt. The Association of Mycorrhizal with Terrestrial Orchid Root in Mt. Cycloops Nature Reserve, Jayapura

Inventory study of cultivated orchid in District Merauke, Merauke City was done from March–June 2006.  Survey methods was used in this study. There were ten species of orchid in this area, consisted of 8 species of native Papuan orchids ( Acriopsis javanica Reinw , Dendrobium anthenatum, Dendrobium diskolour Lind , Dendrobium konkolor Lind , Dendrobium nindii, Dendrobium johanes, and two hibrids), and 2 introduce species ( Phalaenopsis sp and Phalaenopis amabilis ). Dendrobium anthenatum, Dendrobium diskolour Lind , Dendrobium konkolor Lind , and  Dendrobium johanes were the most frequently found species, Dendrobium johanes  were mostly encountered on the bark of eucalypt tree on secondary forest wich had high humidity. The problems in orchid cultivation in those area were drought, pest, pathogen, and lack of guidance in orchid cultivation as well.  Key words: Inventory, orchid, Merauke District, Merauke City.

Domestifikasi Anggrek di Distrik Merauke Kabupaten Merauke–Papua

The research has been conducted in Telaga Village Gunung Leuser National Park, Langkat Regency. Data were collected using Quadrat Method. The result showed that there were 26 species of macroepiphytes belong to 18 genera and 9 families. Orchidaceae had the highest number of species followed by Polypodiaceae and Aspleniaceae with the number of 9, 6 and 4 species respectively. In family level, Polypodiaceae dominated in all strata followed by Aspleniaceae and Davalliaceae.

. Tea plantations can provide microclimate conditions for many epiphytic species, including orchids, but information on their diversity is not yet available. Epiphytic orchid diversity study has been carried out at the Nirmala Tea Plantation, Bogor, West Java. The main objective of this study was to reveal the diversity of epiphytic orchids in the Nirmala Tea Plantation. The data were obtained by vegetation analysis using the purposive sampling method by making 54 plots sized 5 x 5m 2 at two different altitudes, 1050 and 1500 masl. The quantitative data were analyzed by calculating the critical value and morisita indices. The correlation between epiphytic orchid and microclimate variables was processed using Spearman bivariate correlation, performed using Canonical Correspondence Analysis. A total of 15 epiphytic orchids were found at an altitude of 1050 m asl and 10 species of epiphytic orchids at an altitude of 1500 m asl. Seven species, Agrostophyllum longifolium Rchb.f., Appendicula reflexa Blume, Bulbophyllum sp.2, Dendrochilum sp., Eria sp.1, Flickingeria sp, Pholidota carnea Lindl, were found at both altitudes. The diversity of epiphytic orchids is affected by altitude, light intensity, and wind speed. The distribution pattern of epiphytic orchids in Nirmala Tea Plantation is clumped. The results of this study report the diversity of orchids grown in tea plantations for the first time. This information is helpful for the cultivation and conservation of orchid diversity in the future.
