Chapter 53 Microscopy and plasticity of the L12 γphase

TL;DR: In this article, the microscopy and plasticity of the L 1 2 γ´ Phase were discussed and macroscopic mechanical properties, including deformation under constant strain rate, creep, and the analysis of transient tests.
Journal ArticleDOI

On a pseudo-Portevin-Le Chatelier effect

TL;DR: In this article, the authors focus on the case of an alloy whose solid solution has a positive strain rate sensitivity (and thus does not exhibit the PLC effect proper) and which contains in addition a homogeneous distribution of shearable precipitates.
Journal ArticleDOI

Static strain ageing of L12 Al3Ti-based alloys

TL;DR: In this paper, the dislocation pinning phenomenon behind this effect was examined by a study of static strain ageing and the extent of strain-age yield point varies with ageing time and temperature in a manner that confirms pipe diffusion of solute along dislocation cores as the process controlling dislocation lifting.
Book ChapterDOI

Chapter 50 Dislocation Cores and Yield Stress Anomalies

TL;DR: In this paper, the dislocation cores and yield stress anomalies are discussed, and the classical laws that describe the movement of dislocations and the plasticity of materials indicate that the deformation stress steeply increases when the temperature is decreased.
Journal ArticleDOI

Strengthening mechanisms in cubic titanium trialuminide alloys

TL;DR: In this article, it was shown that the strength variation with temperature is not explained by dislocation core structures or cross-slip processes but by solute effects or by fine Al 2 Ti precipitate particles present in the material or formed during testing.

Theory of the effect of dynamic strain aging on mechanical properties

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors described dynamic strain aging (DSA) in solid solutions as diffusion of solute atoms to mobile dislocations, temporarily arrested at obstacles, and calculated the dependence of the flow stress on strain rate, temperature, and strain in the presence of DSA.
Journal ArticleDOI

Evolution of dislocation densities and the critical conditions for the Portevin-Le Châtelier effect

TL;DR: In this paper, a model for the critical strains associated with the Portevin-Le Châtelier effect (PLC) in terms of the strain dependence of the densities of mobile and forest dislocations is proposed.
Journal ArticleDOI

Microstructure, deformation and fracture characteristics of an Al67Ni8Ti25 intermetallic alloy

TL;DR: The microstructure and mechanical properties of Al 67 Ni 8 Ti 25 have been investigated in this article, showing that the dislocation density in the π phase is low after homogenization but increases substantially during compressive plastic deformation.
Journal ArticleDOI

Formation of structural L12 compounds in TiAl3-base alloys containing Mn

TL;DR: Analyse de la formation de nouveaux composes, y compris les composes de structure L1 2 riches en aluminium dans le systeme ternaire Al-Ti-Mn..
Journal ArticleDOI

Compression behavior of the L12 intermetallic Al22Fe3Ti8

TL;DR: The ternary Al 22 Fe 3 Ti 8 compound showed a positive temperature dependence of strength in compression as mentioned in this paper, and the addition of 2 at. % V to the ratio caused a significant decrease in yield strength over a range of temperatures, leading to a second peak in the strength-temperature curve.
