TL;DR: A review of the historical development of psychology in Argentina, from its origins at the end of the nineteenth century (the sowing period) until present times (the period of theowed harvest), is presented in this paper.
Abstract: We review the historical development of Psychology in Argentina, from its origins at the end of the nineteenth century (the ‘sowing’ period) until present times (the period of the ‘owed harvest’). We explain the extinction – due to retirement or death – of the paths set up by pioneers who emerged in this country two decades after Wundt founded the Experimental Psychology Laboratory, followed by a vacancy period in the discipline and the multiple emergence of psychology degrees at public universities after 1954. This gestation period had important theoretical and scientific flaws and strong distortions created by the medical-clinical model. Although these circumstances are changing nowadays, there remain some

Abstract: This research aimed to analyze the demand for Psychology careers in the future high school graduates and for the employers of psychology professionals in Zone 3 of Ecuador. A study of quantitative type, a non-experimental design, cross-section and exploratory and descriptive scopes, was carried out. Data were collected from 405 employers with a non-probabilistic sampling for convenience, and from 5,384 high school graduates through a probabilistic sampling. As a result, it was obtained that in such zone, the offer for the clinical, organizational, and general psychology careers would be feasible. In the case of educational psychology, it would have a better acceptance than the organizational, but the university would be at risk of generating unemployment and underemployment in the future.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors summarized the status of psychotherapy as a private practice in professional psychology and proposed a few lines of action to reverse the condition of job insecurity and taking out of centre the clinical activity; as a hegemonic model of employability.
Abstract: This essay summarizes the status of psychotherapy as a private practice in professional psychology. A brief introduction to the beginnings of the profession of psychologist is presented, as well as aspects of its current situation. It is specially analyzed the theoretical training and the possible causes to explain the dominance of a field exercise above the others. Furthermore, some particular situations related to private clinical psychology are discussed, as well as the role of first-order institutions as mediators between the professional and healthcare companies. Finally, a few lines of action are proposed, to reverse the condition of job insecurity and taking out of centre the clinical activity; as a hegemonic model of employability.

TL;DR: Argentina posee una auténtica cultura psicoterapéutica, siendo el psicoanálisis su expresión más difundida and aceptada, particularmente in las universidades públicas as mentioned in this paper.

TL;DR: It is claimed that a philosophical history of psychology can shed new light on the development of Argentinian psychology by showing that early Argentinian psychoanalysts held positions in the newborn psychology programs and a distinctive stance toward scientific research in general and psychology in particular.
Abstract: Contemporary Argentinian psychology has a unique characteristic: it is identified with psychoanalysis. Nonpsychoanalytic theories and therapies are difficult to find. In addition, there is an overt antiscientific attitude within many psychology programs. How should this be explained? In this paper, we claim that a philosophical history of psychology can shed new light on the development of Argentinian psychology by showing that early Argentinian psychoanalysts held positions in the newborn psychology programs and a distinctive stance toward scientific research in general and psychology in particular. In the absence of an explicit and articulate philosophical position, psychoanalysts developed an implicit meta-theory that helped shape the context that led to the institutionalization and professionalization of psychology in Argentina. Although we do not establish or even suggest a monocausal link between their ideas and the current state of Argentinian psychology, we do claim that their impact should be explored. Finally, we discuss some limitations of our study and suggest future complementary investigations.
