TL;DR: In this article, a change in paradigm regarding the role of English in Brazil relating it to Kachru's notion of the slaughter of the five sacred cows of English is discussed.
Abstract: This paper reflects about a change in paradigm regarding the role of English in Brazil relating it to Kachru’s notion of the slaughter of the five sacred cows of English. So as to foreground this reflection the study reviews the role of English materialized in language policies in Brazil suggesting that there is a gap between people’s views of and language policies regarding the role of English in that country. The analysis of language policies in Brazil also suggests that English is seen as a foreign language on the one hand, in public schools, and as an international language on the other hand, in private language institutes. Based on the analysis of language policies in Brazil the study suggests that these two divergent views of English create a social divide between those who can afford to learn English and those who cannot. The study concludes that one possible way to slaughter Kachru’s five sacred cows of English in Brazil so as to enable the change of paradigm regarding the role of English in that country is to adopt a view of English as an international language.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present and understand the concept of specific terminality, allowing reflection on the education of disabled persons, and indicate the need of effective school termination, which enables social inclusion of disabled people.
Abstract: The process of inclusion of disabled students is possibly one of the biggest dilemmas faced by professionals in the field of education today. It is necessary to create different educational or assistive devices, due to the termination of the school term, precisely so that future opportunities may be real, and not designed as an exclusionary practice. This article aims to present and understand the concept of specific terminality, allowing reflection on the education of disabled persons. This is a qualitative study, which used the technique of narrative review and methodological contributions. The results indicate the need of effective school termination, which enables social inclusion of disabled people.

TL;DR: In this article, a comparative analysis of two plays, O Auto de Mofina Mendes by Gil Vicente and Presepio Mambembe by Lourdes Ramalho, is presented.
Abstract: The present study concerns in the analysis-interpretation of the plays: O Auto de Mofina Mendes by Gil Vicente and Presepio Mambembe by Lourdes Ramalho. This analysis was developed in a comparative perspective to investigate how the shape of the interlude is related with the Christmas play, in an open dialogue between the sacred and profane, the popular and tradition. Thus, we will study the interlude in its specificity as a hybrid form, highlighting its popular character both detectable in the environment that the play is being performed, as in the actions and figurations of the characters within the same and the carnival universe re-created in their relations with the historical and social process of production and reception. In the case of Lourdes Ramalho‟s work, there is also the use of parody, which will mark its dialogue in time with the Vincentian dramaturgy. To do so, we investigate, both historically and aesthetically the form of the Iberian interlude until his arrival in Brazil in the nineteenth century, as well as their relationships, during this reception, with the oral culture of the Northeast. The cultural intersection of the interlude and the handout Northeastern literature provide aesthetic and formal elements necessary for an understanding of what is called, in this study, dramaturgy in northeastern cordel („string‟). Key-words: interlude, Christmas play; dramaturgy in cordel.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors described and analyzed the political and institutional context and the process of implementation of the Interdisciplinary Bachelor's degree in Health (IBH) during the 2006-2011 period.
Abstract: This article describes and analyzes the political and institutional context and the process of implementation of the Interdisciplinary Bachelor's degree in Health (IBH) during the 2006-2011 period. The methodology included document review and analysis of personnel records of the researchers involved. By using the concepts of "window of opportunity" and "hypercomplex organization," it was revealed that managerial and organizational structures were created and master-documents were prepared. In addition to this, actions for implementation of the course, related to the structure of the faculty and the academic council, preparation of the pedagogical project, planning, implementation and monitoring of the teaching-learning process in the various curriculum components offered since 2009 was conducted. Analysis of the challenges and prospects of the course indicates that the major problem is the tension between the traditional model of vocational and discipline-based higher education existing hitherto and the interdisciplinary model proposed by IBH. This tension can be overcome by the full implementation of learning cycles with the institutionalization of IBH as the first cycle of professional health education.
