TL;DR: In the first years of the 20th century, the importance of play in contemporary art was identified as discussed by the authors, and it was observed that artists have sought in related activities, such as play-theoretic art.
Abstract: In approaching contemporary art it is useless to try to determine to what extent it conforms or not to a previously conceived notion of art acquired from past centuries. It is more advisable instead to understand what idea, perhaps even an original one, this art imposes on us. In other words, when faced with a new experience, we should draw from it the original &dquo;problematic,&dquo; that is, formulate appropriate ideas to explain it. If we limit ourselves to the first years of the twentieth century, we can observe both in its content and style one particular characteristic: the importance of play. Artists have sought in related activities, such

TL;DR: This paper considers the possibility of formulating optimisation problems in SBSE as video games and discusses challenges that are anticipated and a demonstration of a proof-of-concept implementation that casts test data generation problem as a spatial puzzle.
Abstract: One way to understand meta-heuristic optimisation process is to look at it as an automated trial-and-error problem solving technique. This view provides interesting parallels to video gaming, which often requires the gamers to solve various problems using trial-and-error approaches. This paper considers the possibility of formulating optimisation problems in SBSE as video games and discusses challenges that are anticipated. The paper concludes with a demonstration of a proof-of-concept implementation that casts test data generation problem as a spatial puzzle.

TL;DR: The psychological origin of games and culture has to do with the imagination and admit that culture, and hence politics, likewise depend on the field of the imagination as discussed by the authors, which is very similar to how it functions in higher animals.
Abstract: The psychological origin of games and culture ALL WRITERS AGREE that play has to do with the imagination and admit that culture, and hence politics, likewise depend on the field of the imagination. Let us examine these commonly held opinions more closely: we may perhaps be able to discover something about the psychological origin of both these phenomena or behaviours. When the imagination is performing dynamically, that is, when it is at fantasy level, it functions in man in two easily distinguishable ways. Either the remembered image-perceptions are united, divorced, intensified, weakened, appear and disappear, dance and rest under the direction of affectivity (humour, instinct, sentiment, excitement, passion, complex, etc.), or all this tumultuous agitation bows before the dictates of the free will as illuminated by deliberation.(1) The first-mentioned way in which the imagination functions and which is probably very similar to how it functions in the higher animals, may be very characteristically exemplified by the day-dream. There are several kinds of day-dream. Apart from the 'virginal' day-dream whose development-whether it be in a state of drowsiness or in one of wakefulness-has no connection at all with objective reality, there may be discerned three closely-related kinds of day-dream. If the day-dream is coupled with a narrative, it converts itself into a short story; a short story is nothing other than the narrating of a daydream; if a stronger dose of objectivity is applied, it turns into a novel, and then, by means
