Abstract: Wie wissen Soziologinnen und Soziologen, was sie wissen? Trotz der Internationalisierung der Soziologie bestehen nach wie vor starke sprachraumliche Unterschiede in der soziologischen Wissensproduktion, in eingesetzten Theorien, Methoden und Fragestellungen. Der nachfolgende Beitrag erlautert die Entwicklung und Auspragung der Unterschiedlichkeit soziologischer Wissenskulturen im Hinblick auf den Einsatz qualitativer bzw. interpretativer Ansatze seit den 1960er Jahren in Deutschland und Frankreich. Er stutzt sich auf ein von uns 2012-2014 geleitetes Forschungsprojekt und dessen empirische Grundlagen: Dokumentenanalysen und Interviews. Wissenskulturen werden als die Arten und Weisen der Produktion und Legitimation von (hier: soziologischem) Wissen verstanden. Diesbezuglich lasst sich von der Erkenntnisproduktion als dem zentralen Handlungsproblem soziologischen Forschens sprechen. Wahrend fur die franzosischsprachige Soziologie diagnostisch von einer Losung dieses Erkenntnisproblems durch die den Forschenden zugeschriebenen Kompetenzen und Inspirationen ausgegangen werden kann, schiebt sich im deutschsprachigen Raume eine prozedurale Legitimation durch Verfahren in den Vordergrund. Der Beitrag rekonstruiert exemplarisch die Ausgangssituation dieser Entwicklungen um die Wende zu den 1960er Jahren und bettet sie in die weitere Entfaltung der jeweiligen Soziologien ein. Abstract: Der Beitrag stellt systematisch Beitrage der neuen amerikanischen und neuen franzosischen Wirtschaftssoziologie zur Analyse des Verhaltnisses von Innovation und Markten dar. Markte werden hier als soziale Strukturen (wie Felder oder Formationen) verstanden, die sich nicht auf einen einfachen Marktmechanismus reduzieren lassen, sondern intern differenziert sind. Innovation wird als Innovation in Markten, dann als Veranderung sowie auch als Einfuhrung von Markten als institutionelle Settings selbst diskutiert.

Abstract: Since its intellectual inception in the 1930s and its political emergence in the 1970s, neo-liberalism has sought to disenchant politics by replacing it with economics.
This agenda-setting text examines the efforts and failures of economic experts to make government and public life amenable to measurement, and to re-model society and state in terms of competition. In particular, it explores the practical use of economic techniques and conventions by policy-makers, politicians, regulators and judges and how these practices are being adapted to the perceived failings of the neoliberal model.
By picking apart the defining contradiction that arises from the conflation of economics and politics, this book asks: to what extent can economics provide government legitimacy?

Abstract: Les questions de qualit constituent un point sensible dans les theories du marche. L'introduction de situations ou) la qualite des biens est mal definie ou fait intervenir des criteres non marchands perturbe profondement ce cadre d'analyse, orientant vers la prise en compte de formes de coordination altematives. On d6veloppe dans cet article I'analyse de plusieurs formes de coordination, coherentes avec des conventions de qualite distinctes. Cette demarche permet de traiter des situations peu conformes a la thdorie standard (flexibilite des prix limitee, liens durables entre les agents) sans les r6duire a des imperfections du marche. Elle introduit a l'analyse de Ia complexitd des tissus industriels par l'etude de l'articulation entre plusieurs formes de coordination. La reduction de l'analyse economique aux seules observations reconnues par les theories du marche s'avere tres coiuteuse pour la comprehension des actions economiques dans leur complexite et la definition des politiques a mettre en ceuvre. Les debats les plus actuels, avives par les evolutions profondes qui ont suivi la longue periode de croissance d'apres-guerre, se laissent difficilement enfermer dans ce cadre rigoureux. L'opposition traditionnelle entre l'efficacite economique du marche et le role protecteur des regles est rendue plus complexe par le developpement des modes d'action oiu la frontiere entre ces deux ordres de ref6rence est brouillee. Ce qui pourrait etre interprete comme entrave au marche apparait frequemment source de gains economiques. Le domaine de l'emploi est, a cet egard, particulierement revelateur, comme on peut le voir sur quelques exemples. La recherche d'un engagement plus profond des salaries dans l'entreprise s'appuie a la fois sur des contraintes d'efficacite economique et sur la volonte pour les salaries de voir leur emploi stabilise, a l'abri des fluctuations du marche. Abstract: This paper draws a parallel between the classical works of John Dewey and Pierre Bourdieu with regard to their critical analyses of power which, in both cases, are grounded in the examination of practical activities. The comparison includes a third approach developed by the author, the sociology of engagements, which crossed the paths of the previous two and specifies the points of comparison.1 This latter approach deals with capacities, power and oppression through analysing kinds of practical engagement with the world that ensure such capacities, owing to mutually supporting dispositions of human beings and their environment.
