01 Mar 1994-Journal of Alloys and Compounds (Elsevier)-Vol. 205, pp 77-80
TL;DR: In this article, the magnetic properties of the composition RCr6Ge6 have been investigated through measurements of the magnetization as a function of applied field and temperature, and no indication of magnetic ordering was found for temperatures down to 5 K.
About: This article is published in Journal of Alloys and Compounds. The article was published on 1994-03-01 and is currently open access. It has received 16 citations till now. The article focuses on the topics: Magnetization & Saturation (magnetic).

  • As in the case of TbCr6Ge6, these isotherms show a tendency towards saturation at low fields already.
  • An interpretation of these curves is, however, more difficult than in the case of TbCr6Ge6, because no clear indication of magnetic ordering was obtained for these materials from the temperature dependence of the magnetization.

TL;DR: In this article, high-resolution neutron powder diffraction has been used to determine the crystal structure of the hexagonal compounds RCr 6 Ge 6 (P6/mmm) and showed that most of the compounds investigated (RY, Dy and Er) can be regarded as partly disordered derivatives of the HfFe 6Ge 6 -type structure where a comparatively small fraction of the R atoms occupy intermediate lattice positions which are shifted from the normal R positions by c /2 along the c axis, the observed atomic disorder is shown to strongly control the R

TL;DR: In this article, it was shown that the hexagonal compound TbCo 6 Ge 6 (P6/mmm) has the YCo6 Ge 6 -type structure and showed that the Tb/Ge distribution is 0.36 Tb and 0.14 Ge 1 for the 1(a) site and0.26 Tb for the 2(e) site.

Abstract: We show that YCr6Ge6, comprising a kagome lattice made up of Cr atoms, is a plausible candidate compound for a kagome metal that is expected to exhibit anomalous phenomena such as flat-band ferromagnetism. Resistivity, magnetization, and heat capacity are measured on single crystals of YCr6Ge6, and band structure calculations are performed to investigate the electronic structure. Curie-Weiss-like behavior in magnetic susceptibility, T2 dependence in resistivity, and a Sommerfeld coefficient doubly enhanced from a calculated value indicate a moderately strong electron correlation. Interestingly, the in-plane resistivity is twice as large as the interplane resistivity, which is contrary to the simple expectation from the layered structure. Band structure calculations demonstrate that there are partially flat bands slightly below the Fermi level near the {\Gamma} point, which is ascribed to Cr 3d3z2-r2 bands and may govern the properties of this compound.
