On Different Classes of Algebraic Polynomials with Random Coefficients

TL;DR: The expected number of real zeros of the polynomial of the form a0 a1xa2x 2 ··· anx n, where a0,a 1,a 2,...,a n is a sequence of standard Gaussian random variables, is known as mentioned in this paper.
Journal ArticleDOI

Atomistic modelling of crack propagation in a randomly rough nano-scale metallic surface

TL;DR: It is found that as the roughness of the surface increases, the critical stress for the initiation of crack propagation is increased, and the fluctuations in the crack velocity make their appearance sooner.

Amplitude Probability Distribution of Radio Waves Reflected From Traveling Ionospheric Disturbances

TL;DR: In this paper, the amplitude distributions of reflected radio waves from various portions of the traveling ionospheric disturbances (TID) superimposed on small-scale irregularities, have been studied with the help of simultaneous records of amplitude and phase patterns of vertically reflected echoes.
Journal ArticleDOI

Distribution of echo amplitudes from an undulating surface

TL;DR: In this article, the probability P(A)dA of an echo amplitude between A and A + dA is calculated for waves reflected at normal incidence from a reflector whose curvature has a Gaussian distribution centred on zero and standard deviation proportional to a parameter k. The resultant amplitude distributions are discussed in terms of the practical measurement of the absorption of radio waves in the ionosphere.
