TL;DR: In this paper, a hybrid orthodontic device is presented, which consists of an extending unit disposed in an oral cavity between teeth disposed to be opposed to each other, and including a plurality of extension pieces coupled with each other through a screw type to apply extension power to the side of the teeth.
Abstract: According to the present invention, disclosed is a hybrid orthodontic device. The hybrid orthodontic device can ensure a rapid orthodontic procedure by simultaneously ensuring teeth set enlargement and teeth set centrifugal movement for non-extraction orthodontic treatment. The hybrid orthodontic device is installed between teeth to be extended, and applies extension power to the side of the teeth. The hybrid orthodontic device comprises: an extending unit disposed in an oral cavity between teeth disposed to be opposed to each other, and including a plurality of extension pieces coupled with each other through a screw type to apply extension power to the side of the teeth; a teeth coupling unit inserted in the outer surface of the teeth to which the extension power is to applied, including a plurality of bands coupled with the teeth, and including a plurality of wires, each of which has one end fixed to the extending unit and the other end fixed to one side of each of the bands and disposed in a radial direction; and a towing unit for towing the extending unit to the core of the teeth. The hybrid orthodontic device is installed between teeth disposed to be opposed to each other, and can ensure a space by extending a distance between teeth even without extracting a tooth by applying extension power to the side of the teeth. Also, towing power is generated in a core direction of a teeth set, so the teeth are towed to the core side of the teeth set. Thus, a space is ensured between an anterior tooth and a molar. Accordingly, orthodontic treatment can be effectively performed.

TL;DR: In this article, a maxillary expansion device having a triple screw system for rapid palatal expansion is presented. But the system is laterally asymmetric and the size of the expansion screw required to obtain a desired amount of expansion can be hardly positioned.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a maxillary expansion device having a triple screw system for rapid palatal expansion. In the case of narrow and constricted maxillary arches requiring rapid palatal expansion, an expansion screw that is large enough to obtain a desired amount of expansion can be hardly positioned and new device preparation and repetition of procedures are required for additional expansion. The present invention is to deal with an increase in cost and hassles attributable to those requirements and allow adjustment of the amount of palatal expansion that is laterally asymmetrical. The present invention includes: a pair of left main bodies; a pair of right main bodies; a first expansion screw having both side portions inserted to penetrate the left main bodies and the right main bodies and adjusting a gap between the left main bodies and the right main bodies; a second expansion screw having both side portions inserted to penetrate the left main bodies and adjusting a gap between the left main bodies; and a third expansion screw having both side portions inserted to penetrate the right main bodies and adjusting a gap between the right main bodies.

TL;DR: In this article, a dental arch extension system with a loosening prevention function was proposed to prevent a screw from being loosened after surgery, where a pair of guide rods were used to adjust an interval between the first and second extension parts while being rotated.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a dental arch extension apparatus and, more specifically, to a dental arch extension apparatus with a loosening prevention function of preventing a screw from being loosened after surgery. According to the present invention, the dental arch extension apparatus comprises: a pair of first and second extension parts; an extension screw having a central part and having a first screw part formed on one side of the central part to be screw-coupled to the first extension part and a second screw part formed on the other side of the central part to be screw-coupled to the second extension part so as to adjust an interval between the first and second extension parts while being rotated; a pair of guide rods guiding movement of the first and second extension parts when the first and second extension parts are moved by rotation of the extension screw; and a loosening prevention member restricting the rotation of the extension screw by the stress within elastic limit.

TL;DR: In this article, an upper jaw orthodontic apparatus was proposed to correct the location of the teeth on both sides of the upper jaw by adjusting the angle of a band when inserting the band into the teeth.
Abstract: The present invention relates to an upper jaw orthodontic apparatus which corrects the location of the teeth on both sides of the upper jaw, and to an orthodontics method using the same. A user can easily mount the upper jaw orthodontic apparatus on the teeth by adjusting the angle of a band of the orthodontic apparatus when inserting the band into the teeth. The upper jaw orthodontic apparatus comprises: a support body connected to a support bar to be separated from the band at a fixed distance to reinforce the strength between the band and the support bar; a mesh member arranged between the support body and the band; and an angle adjusting means composed of a reinforcing member applied and cured on the angle adjusting means while surrounding the mesh member.

TL;DR: In this paper, an orthodontic rapid palatal expansion (RPE) device is described, which includes dual body members and four guide rods for increased stability and an increased range of palatal expand.
Abstract: An orthodontic rapid palatal expansion (RPE) device is disclosed which includes dual body members and four guide rods for increased stability and an increased range of palatal expansion. A jack screw threadably engages each body member and, upon rotation, generates an expansive force which is applied to the palate via the guide rods. A jack screw actuating head with multiple actuating apertures provides the means for rotating the jack screw, and a locking mechanism is included for the dual purposes of (1) preventing unwanted negative rotation or unwinding of the jack screw and (2) providing sensible indications of the positive rotation of the jack screw. Each guide rod is attached to a tooth by means of an attachment sleeve which allows for removal and replacement of the RPE device without removing molar bands secured to the teeth.

TL;DR: In this paper, a hat-shaped body part for the expansion screw is presented, with a threaded spindle and two guide pins, with the latter having guide openings for the passage of the guide pins extending parallel to the threaded spindles.
Abstract: Expansion screw for tooth adjustment having two expansion screw body members each embeddable in a plastic palate plate, these body members being provided with retention grooves for anchoring in the plastic of these palate plates, also having a threaded spindle and two guide pins, wherein the threaded spindle has spindle sections with opposite threads on either side of a central section, these spindle sections engaging in corresponding threaded bores of the expansion screw body members, and wherein the latter have guide openings for the passage of the guide pins extending parallel to the threaded spindle. In order to reduce the size of the two expansion screw body members, the latter are of a hat-shaped design in the side view and provided at their central regions with retention grooves and, in addition, at their facing inner end faces with recesses for accommodating the central section of the threaded spindle, these recesses being designed such that these end faces can abut on one another when the threaded spindle is turned and that in this state of the expansion screw the central section of the threaded spindle provided with a tool attachment point is accessible from the outside.

TL;DR: An orthodontic force mechanism according to the invention includes an elongated jack screw having at a pair of end portions, at least one of which is threaded, and a central spindle section between the end portions as discussed by the authors.
Abstract: An orthodontic force mechanism according to the invention includes an elongated jack screw having at a pair of end portions, at least one of which is threaded, and a central spindle section between the end portions, which spindle section has at least two intersecting radial through-holes therein. A pair of nut housings are mounted on the end portions of the jack screw, at least one of which is threadedly coupled to a threaded end portion of the jack screw. A lock mechanism is mounted on the central spindle section, which lock mechanism includes a spring-loaded detent configured to engage an end opening of each of the through holes in the spindle section when such through hole is in alignment with the detent, such that the spindle cannot rotate relative to the lock mechanism when the detent is inserted into a through-hole, and is free to rotate relative to the lock mechanism when the detent is clear of a through hole. The detent can be moved out of engagement with a through hole using a tool inserted into that through hole from its opposite end, such that a distal end of the tool pushes the detent out of the through-hole, and the same tool can then be used to rotate the jack screw.
