TLDR
In this paper, the authors presented a new methodology to measure the crack resistance curves associated with fiberdominated failure modes in polymer-matrix composites, which is based on the identification of the crack tip location using Digital Image Correlation and the calculation of the J-integral directly from the test data using a simple expression derived for cross-ply composite laminates.

Measurement of the fracture toughness associated with the longitudinal fibre compressive failure mode of laminated composites

TL;DR: In this paper, the fracture toughness associated with the fiber compressive failure was obtained from testing notched unidirectional carbon/epoxy four-point-bend specimens and it was concluded that the most probable cause of the damage morphology was compression-induced shear failure of the composite.

On the relation between the mode I fracture toughness of a composite laminate and that of a 0° ply: Analytical model and experimental validation

TL;DR: In this paper, a simple model was proposed to predict the fracture toughness of multidirectional carbon-epoxy composite laminates using the fracture-toughness of the 0° ply.

Continuum Damage Mechanics Models for the Analysis of Progressive Failure in Open-Hole Tension Laminates

TL;DR: In this article, an aligned mesh is proposed for analysis of the open-hole tension specimens consisting of different meshes within the individual plies, such that the element edges are aligned with the ply fiber direction.

Experimental study on fracture and fatigue crack propagation processes in concrete based on DIC technology

TL;DR: In this paper, a method to determine crack tip position and fracture process zone (FPZ) in concrete was proposed based on Bažant Crack Band Model (CBM) and digital image correlation (DIC) technique.
