Abstract
An important requirement for the development of surface wave microsound systems is the ability to guide the energy. The theoretical and experimental progress towards this aim is reviewed. Some preliminary results on topographic guides are presented. Measurement techniques make use of phase-sensitive laser probes to detect the CW surface waves. The technique permits very accurate determination of dispersion characteristics.

Acoustic surface waveguides - Analysis and assessment

TL;DR: In this article, the properties of acoustic surface waveguides are reviewed, with particular reference to topographic structures in which guiding is achieved by drastic deformation of the substrate surface, and a numerical technique, capable of computing efficiently and with high accuracy the mode spectrum of an anisotropic piezoelectric heterogeneous waveguide of arbitrary cross section, is described.

Analysis of a dispersionfree guide for elastic waves

TL;DR: In this article, the properties of the lowest flexural mode of a wedge-shaped elastic waveguide are discussed and it is shown that this mode can be used as a dispersion-free topographic guide for acoustic surface waves.

Elastic Surface Waves Guided by Thin Films

TL;DR: In this paper, it was shown that plating which load the substrate can reduce the velocity of straight-crested surface waves, while plating with no load can increase the velocities of the surface wave.
