In this article, the concept of aberration is proposed as a way of selecting the best designs from those with maximum resolution, and algorithms are presented for constructing these minimum aberration designs.
Abstract
For studying k variables in N runs, all 2 k–p designs of maximum resolution are not equally good. In this paper the concept of aberration is proposed as a way of selecting the best designs from those with maximum resolution. Algorithms are presented for constructing these minimum aberration designs.

Optimal fractional factorial split-plot designs when the whole plot factors are important

TL;DR: In this article, the minimum aberration of type WP (WP-MA) was proposed as an optimal criterion for fractional factorial split-plot (FFSP) design under the circumstances that the experimenter has some prior information about the significance of the WP factors.

Indicator function based on complex contrasts and its application in general factorial designs

TL;DR: In this paper, a kind of indicator function based on orthogonal complex contrasts is introduced to represent general factorial designs and its significance on projection designs is presented, and a generalized resolution and a new aberration criterion are developed to rank combinatorially non-isomorphic designs with prime levels.

Connections between uniformity and aberration in general multi-level factorials

TL;DR: In this paper, the second-order polynomials of indicator functions for these three discrepancies were investigated and the relationship between them and the generalized wordlength pattern was investigated, and conditions under which a design having one of these minimum discrepancies is equivalent to having generalized minimum aberration (GMA).

Lower bounds of various criteria in experimental designs

TL;DR: In this paper, lower bounds of various criteria in experimental designs will be reviewed according to methodology of their construction, including most well-known ones which are frequently used as benchmarks for orthogonal array, uniform design, supersaturated design and other types of designs.

Some Results on Fractional Factorial Split-Plot Designs with Multi-Level Factors

TL;DR: In this article, the matrix representation for fractional factorial split-plot (FFSP) designs with multi-level factors is first developed, which is an extension of the one proposed by Bingham and Sitter (1999b) for the two-level case.
