Antiviral Substance from Silkworm Faeces: Purification and Its Chemical Characterization

TL;DR: The purification of an antiviral active substance is accomplished by extraction of a hydrophobic substance and thin layer chromatography and this substance shows clear antiviral activity against HVJ, HSV, and HIV (human immunodeficiency virus type-1).

Antibacterial activity of Costus speciosus rhizome extract on some pathogenic bacteria

TL;DR: The genus Costus Linn is an important medicinal plant belonging to the family Zingiberace e.
Journal ArticleDOI

Some physical and chemical properties of carnation ringspot virus

TL;DR: The composition of carnation ringspot virus based on nucleotides and amino acids recovered was 20.48% RNA and 79.52% protein, andalyses indicated that the subunit protein was composed of approximately 347 amino acid residues with a subunit molecular weight of 38,000.
Journal ArticleDOI

Carotenoids and related colorless polyenes of aged Burley tobacco.

TL;DR: The carotenoids of aged Burley tobacco were separated by column chromatography and two colorless polyenes were found whose partial identification indicated that they may be isodemethylaxerophthene and α-ionone.

Optical Rotatory Dispersion. Its Application to Protein Conformation.

E. F. Woods, +1 more
TL;DR: Optical rotation has been found to be one of the most convenient methods of following the denaturation of proteins and rotatory dispersion is capable of providing information on the folding of the polypeptide chain in proteins and the changes accompanying denaturation.
