Pharmacognostic Study of the Leaf of Heliotropium indicum Linn. (Boraginaceae)
Saguna Dattagupta,P. C. Datta +1 more
TL;DR: The plant has pubescent, exstipulate, ovate-elongate leaves with ranunculaceous stomata on both surfaces, various types of non-glandular and glandular hairs, about 6 palisade ratio, lacunar collenchyma in mid-veins and alkaloids in leaf extracts.
Journal ArticleDOI
Two kinds of ammonia-oxidizing bacteria isolated from biologically deodorizing plants in cold district.
TL;DR: Two kinds of ammonia-oxidizing bacteria isolated from biologically deodorizing plants in cold districts in Japan were identified and it seems that these strains are suitable for application to deodorization.
Journal ArticleDOI
Identification of the active ligands chelating Zn in some plant water extracts
A. M. Gomah,R. I. Davies +1 more
TL;DR: The active agents responsible for chelating Zn were isolated from aqueous extracts of vaccinium and barley leaves by sephadex gel and identified by TLC and UV and IR spectroscopy as discussed by the authors.
Journal ArticleDOI
Labelling of chlorophylls and precursors by [2-14C]glycine and 2-[1-14C]oxoglutarate in Rhodopseudomonas spheroides and Zea mays. Resolution of the C5 and Shemin pathways of 5-aminolaevulinate biosynthesis by thin-layer radiochromatography.
TL;DR: Thin-layer-radiochromatographic procedures are described, and the C5 pathway was detected and the incorporation of 14CO2, from degradation of either substrate, into 5-aminolaevulinate via the Shemin pathway thus labelling the succinate fragment produced with periodate.
Journal ArticleDOI
High-throughput retrotransposon-based fluorescent markers: improved information content and allele discrimination
TL;DR: The fluorescent SSAP system improved the accuracy of amplicon scoring, increased the available marker number, improved allele discrimination, and was sensitive enough to identify heterozygous loci in F1 and F2 progeny, indicating the potential to develop high-throughput codominant SSAPs.

Optical Rotatory Dispersion. Its Application to Protein Conformation.
E. F. Woods,Donnell +1 more
TL;DR: Optical rotation has been found to be one of the most convenient methods of following the denaturation of proteins and rotatory dispersion is capable of providing information on the folding of the polypeptide chain in proteins and the changes accompanying denaturation.
