Determination of esters in dry and sweet white wines by headspace solid-phase microextraction and gas chromatography.
Juan José Rodríguez-Bencomo,José Elias Conde,Miguel Ángel Rodríguez-Delgado,Francisco J. García-Montelongo,J.P Pérez-Trujillo +4 more
TL;DR: The proposed HS-SPME-GC method is an appropriate technique for the quantitative analysis of esters in dry and sweet white wines.
Journal ArticleDOI
Inhibition of Germination and Growth of Fruit and Vegetable Postharvest Pathogenic Fungi by Essential Oil Components
TL;DR: In this paper, several essential oil components were studied in order to determine their fungistatic and fungicidal activity against fruit and vegetable postharvest pathogens, including Botrytis cinerea, Monilinia laxa, and Rhizopus stolonifer.
Journal ArticleDOI
Structural characterisation of the olive pomace pectic polysaccharide arabinan side chains.
TL;DR: An arabinan isolated from the alcohol-insoluble residue (AIR) of olive pomace by treatment with 0.02 M HNO(3), at 80 degrees C, was separated from acidic pectic polysaccharides by anion-exchange chromatography, and by size-exclusion chromatography its molecular weight was estimated as 8.4 kDa.
Journal ArticleDOI
Fungal enzymes degrading plant cell walls: their possible significance in the ectomycorrhizal symbiosis
J.W.G. Cairney,R.M. Burke +1 more
TL;DR: This work examines the evidence for these enzyme activities in the context of the structure of plant cell walls and what is known regarding their enzymic breakdown by other fungal groups.
Journal ArticleDOI
Microtubule-binding proteins from carrot : I. Initial characterization and microtubule bundling.
Richard J. Cyr,Barry A. Palevitz +1 more
TL;DR: Non-tubulin proteins which bind to and affect microtubules (MTs) in vitro share similarities with those seen in situ in a variety of plant cells, including a center-center spacing of 34 nm, cold stability, resistance to anti-microtubule drugs, and sensitivity to calcium.

Optical Rotatory Dispersion. Its Application to Protein Conformation.
E. F. Woods,Donnell +1 more
TL;DR: Optical rotation has been found to be one of the most convenient methods of following the denaturation of proteins and rotatory dispersion is capable of providing information on the folding of the polypeptide chain in proteins and the changes accompanying denaturation.
