TLDR
The geochemical model PHREEQC is capable of simulating a wide range of equilibrium reactions between water and minerals, ion exchangers, surface complexes, solid solutions, and gases and has a general kinetic formulation that allows modeling of nonequilibrium mineral dissolution and precipitation, microbial reactions, decomposition of organic compounds, and other kinetic reactions.

Determination of the pH and the free alkali metal content in the pore solution of concrete: Review and experimental comparison

TL;DR: A literature review of methods for determining the pH and/or the free alkali metal content in the pore solution of concrete is presented in this paper, where three ex situ leaching methods (ESL) applied to Portland CEM I and CEM II mortars are compared.
Journal ArticleDOI

PhreeqcRM: A reaction module for transport simulators based on the geochemical model PHREEQC

TL;DR: PhreeqcRM is a geochemical reaction module designed specifically to perform equilibrium and kinetic reaction calculations for reactive transport simulators that use an operator-splitting approach and demonstrates good scalability for parallel processing by using multiprocessing with MPI on distributed memory systems, and limited scalability using multithreading with OpenMP on shared memory systems.
Journal ArticleDOI

Interface COMSOL-PHREEQC (iCP), an efficient numerical framework for the solution of coupled multiphysics and geochemistry

TL;DR: The development, verification and application of an efficient interface, denoted as iCP, which couples two standalone simulation programs: the general purpose Finite Element framework COMSOL Multiphysics ® and the geochemical simulator PHREEQC is presented.

Switchable Nonionic to Cationic Ethoxylated Amine Surfactants for CO2 Enhanced Oil Recovery in High-Temperature, High-Salinity Carbonate Reservoirs

TL;DR: Chen et al. as mentioned in this paper proposed a method to solve the problem of protein-protein interactions in the context of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering (CBIE) at the University of Texas at Austin.

PhreePlot: Creating graphical output with PHREEQC

TL;DR: The Phreeplot software as discussed by the authors is a software for generation of predominance diagrams used to present estimates the predominance of chemical constituents of groundwater under a range of pH and eH conditions.

The prediction of mineral solubilities in natural waters: The Na-K-Mg-Ca-H-Cl-SO4-OH-HCO3-CO3-CO2-H2O system to high ionic strengths at 25°C

TL;DR: In this article, the mineral solubility model of Harvie and Weare (1980) is extended to the eight component system, Na-K-Mg-Ca-H-Cl-SO4-OH-HCO3-CO3 -CO2-H2O at 25°C to high concentrations.

The prediction of mineral solubilities in natural waters: the NaKMgCaClSO4H2O system from zero to high concentration at 25° C

TL;DR: A chemical model of the seawater system, NaK,Mg,Ca,Cl,SO 4,H 2 O, was developed for predicting mineral solubilities in brines from zero to high ionic strengths as discussed by the authors.
