TLDR
Although this pyrethroid was recently started to be used in the country to control the dengue vector, a decrease in susceptibility was noted between both periods analyzed, particularly in the city of Rio de Janeiro, indicating that resistance is due at least in part to a target site alteration.Abstract:
Resistance to cypermethrin of different Aedes aegypti Brazilian populations, collected at two successive periods (2001 and 2002/2003), was monitored using the insecticide-coated bottles bioassay. Slight modifications were included in the method to discriminate between mortality and the knock down effect. Although this pyrethroid was recently started to be used in the country to control the dengue vector, a decrease in susceptibility was noted between both periods analyzed, particularly in the city of Rio de Janeiro. The results indicate that resistance is due at least in part to a target site alteration.read more

TL;DR: In this article , the third-stage larvae (L3) from the F1 and F2 generations of 39 field populations of Aedes aegypti were evaluated for resistance against the organophosphate insecticide temephos.

Avaliação do efeito da seleção com inibidor de síntese de quitina e da exposição a doses parcialmente letais de inseticidas em populações de campo de Aedes aegypti
TL;DR: It is shown that temephos resistance is associated with the impairment of several parameters of mosquitoes, and diflubenzuron resistance causes fitness problems, which may contribute to the development of novel and rational control strategies.

Susceptibility of Spodoptera littoralis, Field Populations in Egypt to Chlorantraniliprole and The Role of Detoxification Enzymes
TL;DR: There is a correlation between the enzyme activity and tolerance, and carboxylic-esterase (Car-EST) is likely the main detoxification mechanism responsible for tolerance of S. littoralis to chlorantraniliprole.

TL;DR: The use of WHO’s TS, to diagnose low bone mass, compromised the ability of forearm densitometry screening, while its capacity of correctly select healthy and post-menopausal women with a greater bone demineralization propensity, mainly spine, was adjusted after BMD distal and ultradistal radio employment.

Ion Channels as Targets for Insecticides
TL;DR: At field-use rates, a neurotoxic effect of the ecdysteroid agonist RH-5849 is observed that involves blockage of both muscle and neuronal potassium channels, and the future use of ion channels as targets for chemical and genetically engineered insecticides is discussed.

Aedes aegypti resistance to temephos during 2001 in several municipalities in the states of Rio de Janeiro, Sergipe, and Alagoas, Brazil
TL;DR: Exposure of larvae to the diagnostic dose of temephos revealed resistance in all localities examined, with mortality levels ranging from 4% (Pilares district, Rio de Janeiro, RJ) to 61.9% (Campos dos Goytacazes, RJ).
