Abstract: A method for updating firmware is executed by a multiprocessor device. The method comprises receiving a header portion of a firmware update file and parsing the header portion to retrieve firmware image information for multiprocessor by a first processor. If the first processor determines a secondary processor needs firmware update, the first processor would notify and send related firmware image information to the secondary processor for updating firmware. The first processor then initiates firmware update without verifying that the secondary processor is updated.

Abstract: A remote update firmware control method is implemented by a first computer host to a second computer host. The second computer host includes a system management bus (SMBus) controller and at least one slave device, each of the slave devices having a firmware. The control method includes: performing a first instruction and a second instruction to obtain a PCIe address and a base address respectively; scanning a plurality of slave addresses of the SMbus controller based on the base address, and obtaining a product identifier corresponding to each of the slave devices; further obtaining a product model and a firmware identification code, and determining whether the firmware of the slave device of the product identifier is updated.
