TLDR
In this paper, the results of measurement on the variation of reflection co-efficient of the sporadic E echoes and of the statistical study of the variations of amplitude of the same, carried out, over a period of 8 months (March to October, 1952) at the Ionosphere Laboratory of the University of Calcutta.About:

Production and prediction of sporadic E
TL;DR: A survey of the experimental observations and theories of formation of all types of sporadic E can be found in this article, where the wind-shear theory is most likely to explain temperate-zone sporadic E and radio aurora reflections.

On the physical significance of the Es parameters ƒbEs, ƒEs, and ƒoEs
C. A. Reddy,M. Mukunda Rao +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, simultaneous observations of midlatitude sporadic E by rockets and ionosondes are analyzed to compare the rocket-observed maximum plasma frequency in Es with the corresponding ionogram values of ƒbEs, ǫEs, and ÃǫoEs, showing that the blanketing frequency (ǫbEs) gives the maximum electron concentrations in the Es layers within an error of about 10% on the average.

Physical significance of the Es parameters ƒ bEs , ƒEs , and ƒ oEs : 2. Causes of partial reflections from Es
TL;DR: In this paper, it was shown that partial reflections from sharp electron concentration gradients or scattering from small-scale weak irregularities in midlatitude Es can produce partially reflected Es echoes of sufficient intensity over large frequency ranges above ƒbEs.

Low‐latitude and high‐latitude geomagnetic agitation
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors show that at high latitudes there are statistical morning, afternoon, and night maxima of geomagnetic agitation (irregular disturbance or activity), the complicated distribution and seasonal behavior of which can be explained only in terms of patterned corpuscular bombardment.

The determination of the collision frequency of electrons in the ionosphere from observations of the reflection coefficient of the Abnormal E Layer
TL;DR: In this article, the reflection coefficient and transmission coefficient of the Abnormal E Layer were measured as functions of frequency, and the results were consistent with the assumption that the normal E Layer consists of a thin horizontally stratified layer of ionization with a total thickness of the order of 5 km.

Fine structure of the ionospheric region E
TL;DR: In this article, the experimental curves are compared with theoretical curves calculated for various model ronospheres, while some of the observed complications appear to be due to subsidiary regions of various kinds occurring together with the simple Region E. Examples of stationary and moving ledges are given Some consequences of the presence of scattering centres are discussed and a typical experimental record shown
