TLDR
In this article, the optical rotatory power and Faraday rotation were measured in crystals of 17Bi2O3: Ga2O 3, 7Bi2 O3: ZnO, Bi12TiO20, Bi 12GeO20 and Bi 12SiO20 in the wavelength range 400 to 700 nm at room temperature.Abstract:
The optical rotatory power and Faraday rotation were measured in crystals of 17Bi2O3: Ga2O3, 7Bi2O3: ZnO, Bi12TiO20, Bi12GeO20, and Bi12SiO20 in the wavelength range 400 to 700 nm at room temperature. Our crystals were enantiomorphs of those reported previously. The large Verdet coefficients indicate that these crystals are potentially useful as magneto‐optic modulator materials.read more

Transport processes of photoinduced carriers in Bi12SiO20
TL;DR: In this article, the optical absorption edge of undoped, lightly Al-doped, and heavily Al−doped Bi12SiO20 single crystals is found to be exponential and follows Urbach's rule with σ0=0.71 at room temperature.

Non‐steady‐state photo‐electromotive‐force induced by dynamic gratings in partially compensated photoconductors
TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of non-steadystate photo-electromotive force (emf) arising in a short-circuited bulk sample of a photoconductor illuminated by a vibrating sinusoidal pattern was investigated.

The molecular structure of bismuth oxide by Raman spectroscopy
TL;DR: In this paper, a method for interpreting the Raman spectra of bismuth oxides is presented, which relies on empirical relations between the bond lengths, bond strength, and Raman stretching frequencies.

Two-wave mixing with an applied field and a moving grating
TL;DR: The theory for two-wave mixing in a photorefractive material with an external electric field and a moving grating is developed in this article, where large gain enhancements are predicted for grating periods of 10−100 μm and compared with recent observations in Bi12SiO20.

Polymorphism of Bismuth Sesquioxide. II. Effect of Oxide Additions on the Polymorphism of Bi2O3.
Ernest M. Levin,Robert S. Roth +1 more
TL;DR: Only the monoclinic and the cubic forms of Bi2O3 were found to be stable, and other phases, frequently reported by previous investigators, such as tetragonal and body-centered cubic (b. c.c.c.), were shown to form metastably from cooled liquid or cubic.

Crystal Structure of Piezoelectric Bismuth Germanium Oxide Bi12GeO20
TL;DR: In this article, the Patterson and Fourier series was used to solve the lattice constant a = 10.1455±0.0008 A at 298°K and the final agreement factor R is 0.062.

Polymorphism of Bismuth Sesquioxide. I. Pure Bi2O3.
Ernest M. Levin,Robert S. Roth +1 more
TL;DR: Stability relationships of the four polymorphs of bismuth oxide have been determined by means of DTA and high-temperature x-ray studies and the greatest transition expansion occurs at the monoclinic to cubic inversion, and cubic Bi2O3 shows the greatest coefficient of volume expansion.

The growth and properties of piezoelectric bismuth germanium oxide Bi12GeO20
TL;DR: Bismuth germanium oxide (Bi 12 GeO 20 ) is a single-crystal Bismuth trioxide with an index of refraction of 2.55 and transparent from 0.45 μm to 7.5 μm as discussed by the authors.
