Pengembangan perangkat pembelajaran model poe berbantuan media “i am a scientist”

Abstract: Abstrak Dewasa ini perkembangan ilmu pengetahuan dan teknologi menuntut peningkatan kualitas pendidikan. Peningkatan secara signifikan belum nampak pada kualitas pendidikan di Indonesia. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan dan mengetahui efektifitas perangkat pembelajaran model Predict Observe Explain (POE) berbantuan media ”I am a scientist” pada materi hidrolisis. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian pengembangan perangkat pembelajaran yaitu suatu proses kegiatan untuk menghasilkan perangkat pembelajaran model POE. Pengembangan perangkat pembelajaran tersebut menggunakan model pengembangan sistem instruksional Thiagarajan, Semmel dan Semmel (model 4-D) yang dimodifikasi. Sampel pada penelitian ini adalah peserta didik kelas XI SMA Negeri 3 Semarang tahun pelajaran 2011/2012 semester genap sebanyak 35. Analisis data meliputi validitas, reliabilitas instrumen, one samples test dan paired samples test. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa perangkat pembelajaran yang dikembangkan sebesar 4,1 berada pada kategori baik, memberikan perbedaan hasil belajar yang siginifikan (0,000) dengan rata-rata N-gain adalah 0,57 yang berada pada kategori sedang dan persentase ketuntasan 97%. Kemudian rata-rata nilai afektif adalah 87,5% dan rata-rata nilai psikomotorik adalah 88%. Respon siswa dalam mempelajari kimia materi pokok hidrolisis garam melalui penerapan pembelajaran model POE memberikan kontribusi 77% dengan kriteria sangat baik. Abstract Nowadays, the development of science and technology requires improving the quality of edu-cation. Have not seen significant improvements in the quality of education in Indonesia. This study aims to develop and determine the effectiveness of the learning models Predict Observe Explain (POE) media-assisted “I am a scientist” in the hydrolysis of the material. This re-search is the development of learning is a process of learning activities to produce a model of POE devices. Development of learning tools using instructional systems development model Thiagarajan, Semmel and Semmel (model 4-D) are modified. The samples in this study were the students of class XI SMA 3 Semarang school year 2011/2012 semester 35. Analysis of the data include validity, reliability of the instrument, one test samples and paired samples test. Based on the results of this study concluded that the developed learning device of 4.1 in the category of good, giving a significant difference in learning outcomes (0,000) with an aver-age N-gain is 0.57 which is in the medium category and 97% the percentage of completeness. Then the average value is 87.5% affective and psychomotor average value was 88%. Responses of students in learning the subject matter of chemical hydrolysis of the salt through the ap-plication of the POE model study contributes 77% to the criteria very well.

Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa: pengembangan modul berorientasi POE berwawasan lingkungan pada materi pencemaran menggunakan model Borg & Gall yang telah dimodifikasi melalui tahapan research and information collection, planning, developpreliminary form of products, preliminary field testing, main product revision, main field testing, dan operational product revision ; kelayakan modul bernilai 3,3 setelah dilakukan uji lapangan dan berkategori “Baik”; pencapaian hasil belajar siswa mengalami peningkatan yang signifikan dalam kategori “Sedang”; dan setelah dilakukan uji secara statistik diperoleh perbedaan hasil belajar siswa Kata Kunci: Modul, POE , Lingkungan, Hasil Belajar

Abstract: Integrated learning is planned based on the theme to relate several subjects that able to give meaningful experience to students. Natural science subject is themed to discuss about natural phenomena, which materials was obtained from mindset and observation. Natural science should be introduced from childhood to Elementary School students to make the students able to think critically, creatively, and build scientific characters. Initial survey results showed that elementary school students were difficult in providing students’ thematic learning effectively; thereby, many students were difficult to learn and answer the questions in the online handout. Integrated learning is one of the models which can improve students’ competence. To use this model, students’ book is needed. This research was conducted to develop students’ book based on integrated learning model which were valid, pratical, and effective to accelerate students’ competence. This research and development used Plomp model with three steps: preliminary research, prototyping phase, and assessment phase. The instruments of this research were interview guides, observation sheets, teachers and students’ questionnaires, students’ test result, skills and behavior and skills scoring sheets. The result of this research showed that the developed students’ book has been valid based on experts’ judgement, teachers’ responses and students. The application of students’ book was effective to improve students’ competence.

Abstract: This research aims to understand the differences of critical thinking skill in learning physics using predict observe explain (POE). It was experimental research with pretest posttest control group. It was conducted in class XI IPA of SMAN 3 Banda Aceh on the topic of thermodynamic law. This research used two parallel classes, which is the first class stands for control and another is used as experiment. Conventional model is applied in control class, whereas class of experiment had predict observe explain model. Instrument of this research was objective test with five multiple choice. Then, data were collected through pretest and posttest. Data analysis is carried out by comparing initial and final skills of students and then tested for significance using two different means through independent simple t-test. The results showed that there were differences in critical thinking skills between students using POE model and students using non-POE model. Therefore, it can be concluded that application of learning model predict observe explain in improving students critical thinking skills.

Abstract: Critical thinking is one of the basic skills in the 21st century. Based on the TIMSS study (The Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study) on 2007, found that Indonesian student are not able to show some abstract and complex concepts in biology. The student cannot understand the complexity of life creatures and their relationship with the environment. This quasi-experimental research aims to determine: (1) differences of students’ critical thinking skills between PDEODE learning and conventional learning, (2) differences of students’ critical thinking skills between those at higher and lower academic abilities, and (3) the critical thinking skills of students due to the interaction between learning strategy and academic ability. The research design was a pretest-posttest non-equivalent control design. The sample was 40 students of State Senior High School 1 Makassar and Islamic Senior High School Athirah Makassar. The research has been carried out during semester 1 of academic year 2015-2016. Data were obtained by the pre-test and post-test using essay test. Data were analysed using ANACOVA Test. The data analysis showed that learning strategy, academic ability, as well as interaction between learning strategy and academic ability affect the students’ critical thinking skills significantly. PDEODE learning strategy affects the students' critical thinking skills as much as 71.43% higher than conventional learning. High academic ability affects the students' critical thinking skills as much as 67.03% higher than the low academic ability. It is uncovered too that students with low academic in PDEODE class with high academic students in conventional class increase critical thinking skills in the same level. It means that PDEODE learning strategy could help the low academic student to increase their critical thinking skill. PDEODE learning strategy in high academic ability is best one to increase critical thinking skills. Article visualizations:
