TL;DR: The proposed approach is a hardware – software codesign which possesses a good keyspace, improved key sensitivity and satisfies the various statistical parameters thus offering substantial resistance to differential, occlusion and chosen plaintext attacks on RGB images.
Abstract: In multimedia communication, significance of the images for data representation is noteworthy. In this context, secure transmission of images over open channel has become a challenging task. Creation of different strategies in improving the secure image transmission always has a demand. The proposed work suggests an RGB image encryption with the confluence of attractors and hardware triggered key image in which confusion and diffusion were accomplished by Lorenz, Lu and Cellular Automata attractors. The uniqueness of proposed encryption scheme is a key image generation module through cascaded Ring Oscillator circuit which creates M × N key image for diffusion of pixels. Facilitating the authenticated networked access to key image generation hardware enables the secure server-client architecture for a variety of secure image transfer applications. The proposed approach is a hardware – software codesign which possesses a good keyspace, improved key sensitivity and satisfies the various statistical parameters thus offering substantial resistance to differential, occlusion and chosen plaintext attacks on RGB images.

TL;DR: An automatic elimination algorithm for ineffective packets is proposed which is implemented by modification of the Linux kernel and the WLAN device driver source code, and the test results of the designed algorithms are presented.
Abstract: This paper presents the problems when Linux-based smart terminals receive unnecessary packets from Wireless LAN environments. Thus, we propose an algorithm to improve these problems. Smart terminals that receive unnecessary packets store them into a socket buffer instead of dropping them immediately. Then the smart terminals transfer the packets to an upper layer and the packets are eliminated at the matched protocol layer. If the smart terminals receive a lot of ineffective packets, the processing time for these packets are unnecessary overhead. In order to reduce the unnecessary overhead, this paper proposes an automatic elimination algorithm for ineffective packets. In this algorithm, we create a new table which contains information of unnecessary packets in kernels, and the ineffective packets are filtered according to the tabled information in the early stage of the MAC layer. Our designed algorithms are implemented by modification of the Linux kernel and the WLAN device driver source code, and the test results of our designed algorithms are presented.

TL;DR: In this paper, a simulation based mechanism for transmitting multimedia data in an underwater terrain is proposed, where acoustic waves have been used for the transmission of multimedia data including images and videos and for that the simulation result shows that low quality image is most suitable in the underwater terrain.
Abstract: Underwater acoustic networking is a new technology tool that can be used for oceanographic collection of data, emissions control, off shore exploration, and navigation. Communication in UWSNs is challenging and transmission of multimedia data becomes more difficult due to the peculiar features of the underwater network. During military emergency transferring multimedia data becomes crucial so as to get the proper knowledge about the situation. Therefore, this paper has proposed a simulation based mechanism for transmitting multimedia data in an underwater terrain. Acoustic waves have been used for the transmission. Multimedia data includes images and videos and for that we have taken four scenarios comprises of low quality image, high quality image, low quality video and high quality video. The simulation result shows that low quality image is most suitable in the underwater terrain.

TL;DR: The proposed ZigBee based home automation system and Wi-Fi network are integrated through a common home gateway and a dedicated virtual home is implemented to cater for the system's security and safety needs.
Abstract: In recent years, the home environment has seen a rapid introduction of network enabled digital technology. This technology offers new and exciting opportunities to increase the connectivity of devices within the home for the purpose of home automation. Moreover, with the rapid expansion of the Internet, there is the added potential for the remote control and monitoring of such network enabled devices. However, the adoption of home automation systems has been slow. This paper identifies the reasons for this slow adoption and evaluates the potential of ZigBee for addressing these problems through the design and implementation of a flexible home automation architecture. A ZigBee based home automation system and Wi-Fi network are integrated through a common home gateway. The home gateway provides network interoperability, a simple and flexible user interface, and remote access to the system. A dedicated virtual home is implemented to cater for the system's security and safety needs. To demonstrate the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed system, four devices, a light switch, radiator valve, safety sensor and ZigBee remote control have been developed and evaluated with the home automation system.

Abstract: The use of wireless technologies in automation systems offers attractive benefits, but introduces a number of new technological challenges. The paper discusses these aspects for home and building automation applications. Relevant standards are surveyed. A wireless extension to KNX/EIB based on tunnelling over IEEE 802.15.4 is presented. The design emulates the properties of the KNX/EIB wired medium via wireless communication, allowing a seamless extension. Furthermore, it is geared towards zero-configuration and supports the easy integration of protocol security.

TL;DR: This article presents an evaluation of these emerging wireless technologies and discusses their suitability for smart home networks.
Abstract: Introduction of Wireless Home Automation (WHA) has become a positive inspiration to the new home and renovation projects, as it increases the quality of life and comfort of the inhabitants, simultaneously facilitating energy conservation and environmental sustainability. Generally WHA networks comprise of wireless embedded sensors and actuators that intelligently interconnect with each other through a suitable wireless architecture. Many wireless technologies have been emerged recently targeting WHA, hence selecting the optimal technology is challenging. In this article, we present an evaluation of these emerging wireless technologies and discuss their suitability for smart home networks.

TL;DR: A novel image transmission scheme for the communication of set partitioning in hierarchical trees image streams over wireless channels employs turbo codes and Reed-Solomon codes in order to deal effectively with burst errors.
Abstract: A novel image transmission scheme is proposed for the communication of SPIHT image streams over wireless channels. The proposed scheme employs turbo codes and erasure-correction codes in order to deal effectively with burst errors. An algorithm for the optimal unequal error protection of the compressed bitstream is also proposed. The resulting scheme is tested for the transmission of images over wireless channels. Experimental evaluation clearly demonstrates the superiority of the proposed scheme in comparison to well-known robust coding schemes.
