Abstract: This study focuses on users' views of factors influencing quality of care at a health care unit in the city of Porto Alegre, relating to access and receptivity. The data were collected using a semi-structured interview and participatory observation and treated using thematic analysis. The results compare ease and difficulties in geographic, economic, and functional access. Orga- nization of services and professional competency were determinant factors in ease of reception, leading to user satisfaction. Poor reception and unsatisfactory professional performance were identified as difficulties. The study concluded that there is a need to increase the professional staff, train them in receiving users, implement a complementary modality for dental care, open the facility earlier for scheduling appointments, and prioritize care for residents of the catch- ment area.

Abstract: Exploratory research is proposed as a methodological procedure for a qualitative approach. The main purpose of this procedure is that of helping the researcher to develop a measurement tool which reflects reality. Both exploratory research conceptions, the traditional and the new one are discussed. The application of this methodological procedure to the study of human factors is recommended and the implementation stages are presented. Some applications for research in public health are suggested.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors highlight the utility of multiple methods (quantitativeand qualitative), focusing on the qualitative approach, including sampling strategies, the most used techniques (interview, focal group and observation) and material analysis.
Abstract: Health humanization is one of the major politics ofthe health sector, currently being implemented in ourcountry. The authors relate humanization with healthpromotion. Promoting health and humanizing healthcare are long term and continuous efforts, which aredynamic and closely related with the context in whichthey are brought in. The diagnosis is critical for theproposition of actions and for adequate interventions, while monitoring and evaluating these interventionscan guarantee the actions support. As the actions andactivities involved are much complex, diagnosing, monitoring and evaluating must be approached in anamplified way that includes the process’s “reasons”and “means”. In order to achieve that, the article high-lights the utility of multiple methods (quantitativeand qualitative), focusing on the qualitative approach. Some considerations concerning this research metho-dology are presented, including “sampling” strategies, the most used techniques (interview, focal group andobservation) and material analysis. In that way, theauthors intend to contribute to administrators’ andhealth professionals’ improvement in situation diag-noses (which aid decisions on future strategies) aswell as in accompanying and evaluating the imple-mented actions in order to bring about adequatemodifications.Key Words: Health Humanization; Health Promotion;Qualitative Research; Program Monitoring; PoliticsEvaluation; Situation Diagnosis.

The purpose of this study was to understand the difficulties and necessities of the caregiver member of the family. A qualitative approach was accomplished to interview four members (relatives) of different families. The information analyzed through the Thematic Analysis revealed five categories: - I don't know what is happening yet that identified ignorance about the Alzheimer's disease (AD); -Taking over responsibility for everything that identified daily routine elements which represent an overburden of demands towards the relative caregiver; -Where are the others? That identified sharing the obligations with other people to be very difficult; -The spirituality help that identified the need for support brought by faith; -The valorous hero that identified the caregiver necessity to be recognized and valorized. The study showed the real daily life faced by the family of elder patients suffering from Alzheimer's disease (AD).
