TLDR
In this paper, a sedimentological core and petrographic characterisation of samples from eleven boreholes from the Lower Carboniferous of Bowland Basin (Northwest England) is presented.Abstract:
Deposits of clastic carbonate-dominated (calciclastic) sedimentary slope systems in the rock record have been identified mostly as linearly-consistent carbonate apron deposits, even though most ancient clastic carbonate slope deposits fit the submarine fan systems better. Calciclastic submarine fans are consequently rarely described and are poorly understood. Subsequently, very little is known especially in mud-dominated calciclastic submarine fan systems. Presented in this study are a sedimentological core and petrographic characterisation of samples from eleven boreholes from the Lower Carboniferous of Bowland Basin (Northwest England) that reveals a >250 m thick calciturbidite complex deposited in a calciclastic submarine fan setting. Seven facies are recognised from core and thin section characterisation and are grouped into three carbonate turbidite sequences. They include: 1) Calciturbidites, comprising mostly of highto low-density, wavy-laminated bioclast-rich facies; 2) low-density densite mudstones which are characterised by planar laminated and unlaminated muddominated facies; and 3) Calcidebrites which are muddy or hyper-concentrated debrisflow deposits occurring as poorly-sorted, chaotic, mud-supported floatstones. Gravitational Waves from Freely Precessing Neutron Stars
David Jones,Nils Andersson +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors model the star as a partly elastic, partly fluid body with quadrupolar deformations of its moment of inertia tensor and show that the effect of internal dissipation on the star is important, with the precession angle being rapidly damped in the case of an oblate deformation.

Modular architectures for quantum networks
TL;DR: In this article, the problem of generating multipartite entangled states in a quantum network upon request is considered, where the required entanglement is initially present in the network in form of network states shared between network devices, and then manipulated in such a way that the desired target state is generated.

Portable, scalable, per-core power estimation for intelligent resource management
TL;DR: This work develops application-independent models for per-core power models for four different (four- to eight-core) platforms, validate their accuracy, and show how they can be used to guide scheduling decisions in power-aware resource managers.

TL;DR: Dimethyl 1,19-nonadecanedioate is produced from the methoxycarbonylation of commercial olive, rapeseed or sunflower oils in the presence of a catalyst derived from [Pd2(dba)3], bis(ditertiarybutylphosphinomethyl)benzene (BDTBPMB) and methanesulphonic acid (MSA) as mentioned in this paper.

A review of the features and analyses of the solid electrolyte interphase in Li-ion batteries
TL;DR: The solid electrolyte interphase (SEI) is a protecting layer formed on the negative electrode of Li-ion batteries as a result of electrolyte decomposition, mainly during the first cycle as discussed by the authors.
