In this paper, a sedimentological core and petrographic characterisation of samples from eleven boreholes from the Lower Carboniferous of Bowland Basin (Northwest England) is presented.
Abstract
Deposits of clastic carbonate-dominated (calciclastic) sedimentary slope systems in the rock record have been identified mostly as linearly-consistent carbonate apron deposits, even though most ancient clastic carbonate slope deposits fit the submarine fan systems better. Calciclastic submarine fans are consequently rarely described and are poorly understood. Subsequently, very little is known especially in mud-dominated calciclastic submarine fan systems. Presented in this study are a sedimentological core and petrographic characterisation of samples from eleven boreholes from the Lower Carboniferous of Bowland Basin (Northwest England) that reveals a >250 m thick calciturbidite complex deposited in a calciclastic submarine fan setting. Seven facies are recognised from core and thin section characterisation and are grouped into three carbonate turbidite sequences. They include: 1) Calciturbidites, comprising mostly of highto low-density, wavy-laminated bioclast-rich facies; 2) low-density densite mudstones which are characterised by planar laminated and unlaminated muddominated facies; and 3) Calcidebrites which are muddy or hyper-concentrated debrisflow deposits occurring as poorly-sorted, chaotic, mud-supported floatstones. Dynamics of bimeromorphic maps of surfaces

TL;DR: It is shown that the sequence ║fn*║ can be bounded, grow linearly, grow quadratically, or grow exponentially, and that after conjugating, f is an automorphism virtually isotopic to the identity, f preserves a rational fibration, or f preserves an elliptic fibration.

On the decidability of query containment under constraints

TL;DR: This work addresses query containment under constraints within a setting where constraints are specified in the form of special inclusion dependencies over complex expressions, built by using intersection and difference of relations, special forms of quantification, regular expressions over binary relations, and cardinality constraints.

Property preserving abstractions for the verification of concurrent systems

TL;DR: Results are given on the preservation of properties expressed in sublanguages of the branching time μ-calculus when two systemsS andS' are related via (α, γ)-simulations, using simulations parameterized by Galois connections.

Photon-assisted transport in semiconductor nanostructures

TL;DR: In this article, the authors focus on electronic transport through semiconductor nanostructures which are driven by ac fields and give many examples which demonstrate the possibility of using appropriate ac fields to control/manipulate coherent quantum states.

Fisher information and multiparticle entanglement

TL;DR: Bounds on F imply that genuine multiparticle entanglement is needed for reaching the highest sensitivities in quantum interferometry, and these criteria detect different sets of states and illustrate their strengths by considering several examples.

A review of the features and analyses of the solid electrolyte interphase in Li-ion batteries

TL;DR: The solid electrolyte interphase (SEI) is a protecting layer formed on the negative electrode of Li-ion batteries as a result of electrolyte decomposition, mainly during the first cycle as discussed by the authors.
