22 Jan 2019-Journal of Thermal Stresses (Taylor & Francis)-Vol. 42, Iss: 5, pp 580-606
TL;DR: In this paper, the propagation of time harmonic plane waves in an infinite nonlocal thermoelastic solid having void pores was studied, and the effects of frequency, void parameters, thermal parameter and nonlocality have been studied numerically on the phase speeds, attenuation coefficients and specific losses of all the propagating waves.
Abstract: This work is concerned with the propagation of time harmonic plane waves in an infinite nonlocal thermoelastic solid having void pores. Three sets of coupled dilatational waves and an independent transverse wave may travel with distinct speeds in the medium. All these waves are found to be dispersive in nature, but the coupled dilatational waves are attenuating, while transverse wave is nonattenuating. Coupled dilatational waves are found to be influenced by the presence of voids, thermal field and elastic nonlocal parameter. While the transverse wave is found to be influenced by the nonlocal parameter, but independent of void and thermal parameters. For a particular model, the effects of frequency, void parameters, thermal parameter and nonlocality have been studied numerically on the phase speeds, attenuation coefficients and specific losses of all the propagating waves. All the computed results obtained have been depicted graphically and explained.

TL;DR: In this article, the basic equations of a nonlinear theory of heat-conducting viscoelastic mixtures in Lagrangian description were derived by using a mixture theory.
Abstract: In this paper we derive the basic equations of a nonlinear theory of heat-conducting viscoelastic mixtures in Lagrangian description. The classical Kelvin–Voigt viscoelastic model is generalized by using a mixture theory. The independent constitutive variables are the displacement fields, velocity fields, volume fractions, displacement gradients, velocity gradient, volume fraction gradients, temperature, and temperature gradient. In contrast with the theories of solid/fluid mixtures, in the present theory the diffusive force depends on both relative displacement and relative velocity. The previous theories of viscoelastic mixtures based on the Lagrangian description omit the concept of volume fraction. The basic equations of the linear theory are established. Uniqueness and continuous dependence results are presented.

TL;DR: In this paper, a fractional order Lord & Shulman model of generalized thermoelasticity with voids subjected to a continuous heat sources in a plane area has been established using the Caputo fractional derivative and applied to solve a problem of determining the distributions of the temperature field, the change in volume fraction field, and the deformation and the stress field in an infinite elastic medium.
Abstract: In the present work, a fractional order Lord & Shulman model of generalized thermoelasticity with voids subjected to a continuous heat sources in a plane area has been established using the Caputo fractional derivative and applied to solve a problem of determining the distributions of the temperature field, the change in volume fraction field, the deformation and the stress field in an infinite elastic medium. The Laplace transform together with an eigenvalue approach technique is applied to find a closed form solution in the Laplace transform domain. The numerical inversions of the physical variables in the space-time domain are carried out by using the Zakian algorithm for the inversion of Laplace transform. Numerical results are shown graphically and the results obtained are analyzed .
