Journal ArticleDOI
Cannabidiol Enhances the Inhibitory Effects of Δ9-Tetrahydrocannabinol on Human Glioblastoma Cell Proliferation and Survival
Jahan P. Marcu,Rigel T. Christian,Darryl Lau,Anne J. Zielinski,Maxx P. Horowitz,Jasmine G. Lee,Arash Pakdel,Juanita Allison,Chandani Limbad,Dan Moore,Garret Yount,Pierre-Yves Desprez,Sean D. McAllister +12 more
TL;DR: Cannabidiol, the second most abundant plant-derived cannabinoid, in combination with Δ9-THC is tested and it is suggested that the addition of cannabidiole may improve the overall effectiveness of Δ9 -THC in the treatment of glioblastoma in cancer patients.
Journal ArticleDOI
Pharmacotherapy for Marijuana Dependence: A Double-blind, Placebo-controlled Pilot Study of Divalproex Sodium
Frances Rudnick Levin,David McDowell,Suzette M. Evans,Edward Nunes,Evaristo Akerele,Stephen Donovan,Suzanne K. Vosburg +6 more
TL;DR: It is found that marijuana-dependent patients will seek treatment, and such patients can be adequately maintained in a pharmacologic trial, and divalproex sodium showed promise as a treatment agent for marijuana dependence.
Journal ArticleDOI
Toxicity of short-term administration of cannabinoids to rhesus monkeys.
TL;DR: The temporal pattern of adverse responses differentiated CBD, CBCH, and hashish oil and decreased testicular size and inhibition of spermatogenesis occurred.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effects of delta‐9‐tetrahydrocannabinol on drug distribution and metabolism Antipyrine, pentobarbital, and ethanol
Neal L. Benowitz,Reese T. Jones +1 more
TL;DR: The effect of THC on disappearance rate of these drugs appeared to be due to a combination of: (1) increased distribution volume, due in part to expansion of extracellular fluid volume noted during THC ingestion, and (2) diminished metabolic clearance.
Journal ArticleDOI
Acute and subacute inhalation toxicity of Turkish marihuana, cannabichromene, and cannabidiol in rats.
TL;DR: Hematological variations were more closely associated with CBCH but organ-weight changes were related to Turkish marihuana and CBD, and the only drug-related histopathological finding was seminiferous tubule degeneration with interference in sperm maturation.

Marihuana Chemistry: Recent advances in cannabinoid chemistry open the area to more sophisticated biological research.
Journal ArticleDOI
Comparison of tetrahydrocannabinol and synhexyl in man
TL;DR: These drugs differed from LSD in the following respects: sedation was prominent; euphoria was langer lasting; dreamlike sequences more pronounced; and physiological and biochemical effects were somewhat different, especially in the absence of sympathomimetic effects.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effect of cannabis and certain of its constituents on pentobarbitone sleeping time and phenazone metabolism
TL;DR: It is concluded that cannabis extract inhibits microsomal activity of mouse liver, chiefly by virtue of its cannabidiol content, and it is probable that cannabis consumption by man could lead to altered disposal of many other drugs, used in medicine or otherwise.
Journal ArticleDOI
A metabolic interaction in vivo between cannabidiol and Δ1‐tetrahydrocannabinol
G. Jones,Roger G. Pertwee +1 more
TL;DR: Pretreatment with CBD did not bring about any detectable change in the degree of 'catalepsy' produced by Delta(1)-THC, and this negative finding may have been due to the wide limits of error that were obtained in the bioassay.
Journal ArticleDOI
The content of (-)Δ9-trans-tetrahydrocannabinol (Δ9-THC) does not explain all biological activity of some Brazilian marihuana samples
I. G. Karniol,E. A. Carlini +1 more
TL;DR: The results of experiments with flowering tops of 2 samples of Brazilian marihuana show that sample B was about twice as active as sample A as would be expected from their difference in A9-THC content; however, when these results are compared to those obtained with pure AS-THc the extracts are 3 to 5 times more active than expected.
