Preoperative Virtual Reality Based Intelligent Approach for Minimizing Patient Anxiety Levels

TL;DR: This study was carried out to evaluate whether virtual reality based solution could reduce patients anxiety before operation.
Abstract: According to studies, Anxiety is quite common among the patients preparing to undergo a surgery and the level of anxiety differs due to several factors which includes the type of surgery to be carried out, patient's past experiences, demographic profile etc. Among all the factors that are associated with the anxiety levels of the patients, the fear of physically getting inside the operation theatre is very common. Though there are several steps taken to explain the operative procedure to patients, they still feel stranded while entering the operation theatre because of which their anxiety levels remain high. This study was carried out to evaluate whether virtual reality based solution could reduce patients anxiety before operation.

Abstract: Received 12 Feb 2022, Accepted 15 Mar 2022, Online 7 May 2022 Abstract: This qualitative research design employing phenomenological study aimed to explore students’ learning experiences in new the normal education. An individual interview was conducted in gaining insights into the participants’ perceptions, understanding, and experiences upon their learning in the new normal education. The interview question first focused on the students’ learning experiences in new normal education, and the second was how the students cope with the transition to the new normal education. The purposive sampling method was used in this study’s conduct. Ten (10) selected students were identified as the key informant from Cotabato Foundation College of Science and Technology-Pikit Extension Unit, Batulawan, Pikit, Cotabato, Philippines. The gathered data revealed that students are exhausted and struggling to look for a stable internet connection and become self-reliant. Furthermore, it was also revealed that most participants preferred Blended Learning rather than Distance Learning. Moreover, the study found five coping mechanisms the students used: acceptance, participating and complying, browsing the internet, seeking internet connection from friends, motivation, and hard work. The participants of this study were able to express and share their learning experiences and coping mechanisms. This study could serve as a good source of useful and accurate information to convey awareness to society.

TL;DR: In this paper , several agglomeration approaches of area unit are used including Agglomerated hierarchal aggleration, K means, and C means to perform clustering analysis.
Abstract: Data mining is one space that helps in churning out helpful data from the abounding knowledge offered. Mining is gaining immense quality currently. To perform data processing, a majority of techniques exist. Agglomeration approach relies on the scholar performance and activities allotted as a district of process. Clusters are accustomed realize the relation between the attributes. The cluster analysis was performed by organizing collections of patterns into team-supported student behavior. In this chapter, several agglomeration approaches of area unit are used including agglomerated hierarchal agglomeration, K means, and C means.

TL;DR: A review of the literature from 1990 to 2002 was undertaken in order to assess the present level of knowledge and interventions concerning patient anxiety when undergoing modern, intermediate surgical intervention.
Abstract: Medical advances have led to a considerable rise in the level of elective surgery undertaken as day-case surgery and with minimal hospital stay. However, amid such advances, preoperative psychological care has remained relatively static. A considerable number of patients are very anxious prior to elective surgery and little formal care is undertaken to address this major issue. A review of the literature from 1990 to 2002 was therefore undertaken in order to assess the present level of knowledge and interventions concerning patient anxiety when undergoing modern, intermediate surgical intervention. Thirty-four studies embracing data from 3754 patients undergoing both inpatient and day-case procedures were reviewed. Three main themes emerged - causes of anxiety, clinical concerns and measurement, and anxiety management. Each theme is discussed alongside details extracted from the relevant studies. Finally, the main issues arising are summarized and future research challenges identified.

TL;DR: A high preoperative anxiety level negatively affects recovery from anesthesia and control of postoperative pain, and in this patient group, the increased need for postoperative analgesia must be adequately met.
Abstract: In patients who are hospitalized for surgery, anxiety disorders are frequently observed. Anxiety affects the patient’s perception of postoperative pain and has a negative impact on recovery from anesthesia. This study attempted to compare the effect of preoperative anxiety on postoperative pain control and recovery from anesthesia in patients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy. A total of 80 patients were enrolled who were undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy. Demographic characteristics of the patients were recorded. Beck’s anxiety inventory (BAI) was administered to the patients: patients with anxiety were included in the high-anxious patient group (group H) and patients without anxiety were enrolled in the low-anxious group (group L). Duration of surgery, duration of anesthesia, extubation time, and adverse effects were recorded. During the postoperative period, patient-controlled analgesia with tramadol was used for pain control. Visual analog scale (VAS) scores and tramadol consumption of all patients were recorded. Among all patients, 31 (38.75 %) patients had preoperative anxiety, and significant correlation was found between the days of hospitalization and preoperative score of BAI. In group L, extubation time, the time for the modified Aldrete score to reach 9, was seen as significantly shorter and fewer postoperative side effects were determined. Also in group L, postoperative VAS score and tramadol consumption were significantly lower, and less tenoxicam was needed. A high preoperative anxiety level negatively affects recovery from anesthesia and control of postoperative pain. In this patient group, the increased need for postoperative analgesia must be adequately met.
