TLDR
This book presents the scientific basis of problem-based learning and goes on to describe the approaches to problem- based medical learning that have been developed over the years at McMaster University, largely by Barrows and Tamblyn.
Abstract
In this book, the authors address some basic problems in the learning of biomedical science, medicine, and the other health sciences Students in most medical schools, especially in basic science courses, are required to memorize a large number of ""facts,"" facts which may or may not be relevant to medical practice Problem-based learning has two fundamental postulates--the learning through problem-solving is much more effective for creating a body of knowledge usable in the future, and that physician skills most important for patients are problem-solving skills, rather than memory skills This book presents the scientific basis of problem-based learning and goes on to describe the approaches to problem-based medical learning that have been developed over the years at McMaster University, largely by Barrows and Tamblyn

The relationships between problem characteristics, achievement-related behaviors, and academic achievement in problem-based learning

TL;DR: Investigating the influence of five problem characteristics on students’ achievement-related classroom behaviors and academic achievement showed that problem clarity led to more group discussion, identification of learning goals, and self-study than problem familiarity.

Problem Solving Model with Integration Pattern: Student's Problem Solving Capability

TL;DR: In this paper, a new model of learning model that is integrated into the value of Islam and science, especially in the subjects of mathematics, is presented. But, the model is not suitable for all learners and the problem solving ability in MINU Pucang Sidoarjo still low due to the absence of habituation of teachers for students to think logically so that learners tend to memorize without knowing the stages of Scientific thinking that must be understood by learners.

Collaborative distributed environments for learning design tasks by means of modelling and simulation

TL;DR: This paper explores the potential of this synergy with DomoSim-TPC, a synchronous distributed collaborative environment for the teaching and learning of Domotics, which supports an active, simulation-based and problem-based approach for learning house automation design.
