Abstract: Opinion Mining is the processing textual contents from on-line discussions in order to highlight the opinions of net surfers. In the process, the identification of the comments through a model and a formalism which encompass the methods and the data is critical step. Unfortunately, this step is generally neglected in most of the Sentiment analyses studies. The objective of this article is to address this challenging issue of modeling News comments. The relevance of such a study is to enable easy data collection and to avoid the algorithmic complexity of sentiment analysis methods.

Abstract: En latence dans le texte, le sens attend d’etre revele par l’interpretation. Lorsqu’il s’agit de traduire, la difficulte que presente la traduction de certains textes juridiques tient en bonne part, outre au caractere normatif de ce type de texte, a la charge notionnelle dont il est porteur. Plus la societe qui l’a produit est ancienne et developpee, plus ses institutions et son langage seront complexes. Chaque terme cele un univers refletant la profondeur des fondations de l’edifice juridique, l’originalite et le dynamisme de la culture qui l’a faconne. Le message que vehicule un texte prime dans l’interpretation qui en sera faite. Son mode d’expression—son style—n’est pas pour autant quantite negligeable. La maniere de dire est porteuse de x significations possibles. Elle influe sur le sens et sa perception, en modifie parfois le cours et l’interpretation que peut en faire le traducteur ou le jurilinguiste—voire le juriste. En sursis jusqu’a son interpretation finale par les tribunaux, le sens du texte est alors fixe. Dans cette perspective, a en croire Gadamer, le traducteur est bien place pour en distinguer les formes lorsqu’il interpretera le message du texte de depart en vue de le traduire.

Abstract: This paper will explore some of the directions that a semiotically based theory of ideology might need to pursue. The theory in the paper comes from many sources, but is based primarily on the notion of language as social semiotic (Halliday 1978), seeing language as actively symbolising the social system, its pattern of variation representing metaphorically the variation that characterises human cultures. A systemic-functional analysis of the lexica-grammar of a group of poems on apparently diverse themes from John Donne's poetry reveals that a remarkably narrow set of choices in meaning is actually made. There are certain regularities in the situation types (the semiotic construct of context) which the poems enact/encore and these seem to impose limitations on the register or kinds of choices in meaning that can be made. Intertextually, the choices tend to be recurrent, both in grammar, and across the semantic fields spanned by the lexis.

Abstract: The article is devoted to the place of research on speech genres in the paradigm of discourse analysis. Focus is brought to bear on the directions of discourse analysis which have much in common with the theory of speech genre problems, categorical apparatus or set of base units, as well as using speech genre methodology to solve their problems. It is shown that the main problem, combining discourse analysis and theory of speech genres, is structuring and parameterization of speech communication, and thus - search for basic models of structuring, which organize a production of speech and its interpretation. In this regard, discourse units as well as their location with respect to the genres in the general speech space are discussed. The communicative and cognitive aspects of these units are analyzed, the chain links are constructed, which correspond to the components of communicative concepts that have clear compositional, thematic and stylistic content: the standard structure of the communicative concept is a chain of “action/act ~ process / manner ~ role / type ~ genre ~ communicative tonality”, while in most chains the main components are speech genres. Much attention is paid to the discursive classification of speech genres: genres are discussed in different types of discourse.

Abstract: This paper tries to illustrate the relevance of what Benveniste called conglomeres (conglomerates) for the study of English. It shows that conglomerates refer to a set of regular phenomena and account for two general trends of the lexicon : the quest for economy on the one hand and the importance of speech (parole) in the lexicalisation of units on the other hand. By analysing a borderline case of morphology in two senses of the word (morphology vs. syntax and phrases vs. compounds), a case is made for the investigation of a delocutive matrix, the cline between discourse and the lexicon. In that sense, this paper offers a partial review of French approaches to English lexicology within the tradition of enunciative linguistics.
