TL;DR: In the "Postscript to the case of Dora", Fragment of an Analysis of a Case of Hysteria, written shortly after The Interpretation of Dreams but published 5 years later in 1905, Freud (1959b, 1942a) considers the role of DORA's transference, and his failure to detect it or at least perceive its consequences in the course of her treatment and its abrupt termination.
Abstract: In the "Postscript to the Case of Dora," Fragment of an Analysis of a Case of Hysteria, written shortly after The Interpretation of Dreams but published 5 years later in 1905, Freud (1959b, 1942a) considers the role of Dora's transference, and his failure to detect it or at least perceive its consequences in the course of her treatment and its abrupt termination. He (Freud 1959b:14D, 1942a:281) notes that "psychoanalytic treatment does not create transferences, it merely brings them to light, like so many other hidden psychical factors [Die psychoanalytische Kur schafft die Ubertragung nicht, sie deckt sie bloss, wie anderes im Seelenleben Verborgene, auf.]." He (Freud 1959b:139-140, 1942a:280) stresses the extreme difficulty of detecting the transference.

TL;DR: The authors argue that poetry may plausibly be construed as the dialogically and sociopolitically exemplary mode of discourse in Bakhtin's writings, and they re-examine this view of the respective significance of poetry and prose.
Abstract: Bakhtin’s endorsement of literary prose—especially Dostoevsky’s—on the grounds of its polyphony and his concomitant critique of poetry on the grounds of its allegedly monologic character have become commonplace in Bakhtin criticism. In this article, I reexamine this view of the respective significance of poetry and prose in Bakhtin’s oeuvre. In particular, I argue that far from being relegated to the realm of discursive and, by extension, sociopolitical monologicity, poetry may plausibly be construed as the dialogically and sociopolitically exemplary mode of discourse in Bakhtin’s writings.

TL;DR: The authors showed that the specific function of evidential parecer constructions is linked to the grammatical or lexical status of the verb and showed that there is a correlation between the continuum from lexical to grammatical, and the modes of knowing expressed, on the other.
Abstract: This paper discusses different degrees of lexical/grammatical evidentiality. I show that the specific function of evidential parecer constructions is linked to the grammatical or lexical status of the verb. The data suggest that there is a correlation between the continuum from lexical to grammatical, on the one hand, and the modes of knowing expressed, on the other. It is shown that the higher the degree of grammaticalization of a parecer construction is, the less evidential values it can express. A series of functional-pragmatic tests indicate that the parece que construction involves a broader array of evidential types than both me/le parece que and parecer + infinitive. These two constructions can be considered the lexical and the grammatical endpoints of the continuum, respectively. The tests confirm the claim that me/le parece que is attached to the conceptualizer, whereas the grammaticalized parecer + infinitive construction conveys an inferential qualification that is restricted to the speaker. The concept of (inter)subjectivity is presented as a useful addition to source-evidentiality. Subjectivity refers to the speaker’s exclusive access to the evidence, whereas intersubjectivity is about shared access to the evidence. The intersubjective statements, here expressed by parece que, are considered to have broader support than the subjective ones conveyed by parecer + infinitive. They can be seen as more reliable and, hence, can explain why the Hispanic linguistic literature labels them as expressing “near-factivity”, while subjective statements, based on the speaker’s inference only, lead to a “non-factive” interpretation. Thus, the different distribution of the evidential readings with parecer gives a more delicate analysis of the different evidential values of lexical and grammatical expressions. *

TL;DR: The authors explored two possible connections between the diagnostics for morphological and semantic markedness, and found that the negative correlation is theoretically consistent with the semantic literature (in particular Link, in: Bartsch et al. (eds.) Semantics and contextual expressions, 1983).
Abstract: This paper explores two possible connections between the diagnostics for morphological and semantic markedness. One possibility, a positive correlation, predicts that if a grammatical feature is diagnosed as being morphologically marked then it should also be semantically marked. This possibility follows from the assumption that features are interpreted as restrictions on denotations. The second possibility, a negative correlation, predicts that if a grammatical feature is diagnosed as being morphologically marked then it should be semantically unmarked. This systematic inconsistency follows from the assumption that features are interpreted as augmenting functions. In our exploration of number marking, we find that the negative correlation is not only theoretically consistent with the semantic literature (in particular Link, in: Bartsch et al. (eds.) Semantics and contextual expressions, 1983), but it is also more consistent with the empirical landscape (as noted by Sauerland, in: Young and Zhou (eds.) Proceedings of Semantics and linguistic theory SALT XIII 2008). As a result, the morphological diagnostics lend support to the view that plural features are interpreted as augmenting functions.
