Bibliotheken, Dokumentationseinrichtungen, sowie Firmen im Medien und Verlagswesen verfugen in zunehmendem Masse uber eine grose Menge an elektronisch erstellten Dokumenten, die erschlossen, systematisiert und wieder auffindbar gemacht werden sollen. Zum Zwecke der Strukturierung eines Dokumentenbestandes gibt es Verfahren, die aus dem Inhalt der vorhandenen Dokumente ein Begriffsnetz generieren, um so leichter im Bestand navigieren zu konnen. Diese Verfahren sind in einigen Unternehmen schon fester Bestandteil und haben dort erheblich zur Verbesserung der Strukturierung des Dokumentenbestandes und zum schnelleren Wiederauffinden von Online- Texten gefuhrt [SCHE2005]. Sinn der Generierung von Begriffsnetzen ist die Strukturierung der vorhandenen Texte ohne die Vorgabe von fixen Begriffs- und Benennungssystemen. Die Ausgangsposition ist im Bibliotheksumfeld jedoch etwas anders. Im Bibliotheksumfeld existieren feste Klassifikationen, die angewandt werden mussen, unabhangig von zu klassifizierenden Texten. Die Klassifikationen sind meist nur sehr wenig mit weiteren Informationen angereichert. Weiterhin kommen in den meisten wissenschaftlichen Bibliotheken bibliothekarische Hilfsmittel zur Themeneingrenzung und Schlagwortvergabe zur Anwendung. Es existieren Dokumente, die Schlagworten und oder Klassifikationen zugeordnet werden sollen. Eine Zuordnung wird intellektuell vorgenommen, da der Stand der Technik in den Bibliotheken keine andere Vorgehensweise erlaubt.

Entwicklung eines Verfahrens der automatischen Klassifizierung für Textdokumente aus dem Fachbereich Informatik mithilfe eines fachspezifischen Klassifikationssystems

A Organizacao do Conhecimento e area tradicional de pesquisa e ensino em Ciencia da Informacao. Grande parte da literatura nesta area trata do processo, das atividades e dos instrumentos especialmente desenvolvidos no tratamento de documentos para armazenamento, disseminacao, recuperacao e uso em sistemas e servicos de informacao. Os diferentes tipos e demandas de informacao tem demonstrado a crescente diversidade em organizacao do conhecimento em outros contextos de aplicacao. O presente trabalho e de natureza exploratoria. Analisa exemplos de tabelas e esquemas de classificacao em C&T com o objetivo de identificar agregacoes em nivel de super-ordenacao de areas do conhecimento para diferentes necessidades de producao e uso de informacao. Os instrumentos analisados foram: esquemas de classificacao bibliografica, tabelas de classificacao de areas do conhecimento para propositos de comunicacao em ciencia, administracao de programas de agencias de fomento a para a producao de estatisticas nacionais. Apresenta tambem uma abordagem tematica de classificacao dos saberes no contexto da educacao. Os resultados mostraram que ha consenso na agregacao de areas em grandes areas do conhecimento em C&T, embora ocorram diferencas no numero e na ordem de apresentacao das grandes areas em funcao da natureza do objeto de representacao, assim como da finalidade da organizacao do conhecimento.

The recent developments on components technologies have increased the number of components available to the market. These components are, however, distributed overall the world and not properly advertised to the research and development communities. Finding the appropriate components to solve a particular problem is not very straightforward and new techniques must be developed to effectively reuse components. One of the great challenges in reusing components is concerned with how to actually classify components “properly” in order to further retrieve them. Classifying components for effective retrieval depends on acquiring the appropriate information in classification to improve the precision and recall rates in retrieval; finding only the potentially reusable components and not missing potential solutions. At the same time, the classification and retrieval mechanisms must be easy enough to persuade developers to reuse components. This work studies the classification techniques of software components, repository and retrieval methods. Hereafter is presented a proposal of components classification model that considers not just its function, but business and quality attributes. It is proposed a semi-automatic classification mechanism of software information, allowing a cheaper classification. REUSE+ prototype was built to exemplify the use of model and method of semi-automatic classification, allowing the described proposal validation, highlighting at the end the mainly contributions of the work.

Considering that the analytic-synthetic method is still one of the main methodological approaches to knowledge organization, the present paper aims to highlight the contribution of James Duff Brown to the development of this method. We conducted a comparative analysis based on William James's pragmatism in order to investigate the convergences of Brown’s work with other authors of the analytic-synthetic movement, namely Otlet, Kaiser, and Ranganathan. Our pragmatist analysis reveals that Brown developed a similar stance to the aforementioned authors based on the analysis and synthesis of subjects for knowledge organization.
